C.lupus offseason rebuild V5.30
Nothing earth-shatteringly new here - just putting together ideas in one package mostly. I’m not crazy about adding three rookies to an already young team but, if we want to build through the draft, here’s my somewhat reasonable route:
Move #1:
MIN Trades Jefferson, Pekovic
Receives #5 (Johnson), Prince
*MIN gets an upgrade at SF and a nice expiring contract (and vet)
DET trades #7, Prince
Receives Jefferson
*DET gets their low post scorer
SAC trades #5
Receives #7, Pekovic
*SAC upgrades their frontcourt with Pek and a quality PF (Udoh, Davis, Monroe)
Move #2:
MIN trades #16 + #23
Receives #10 (Henry)
*MIN moves up to insure they get Xavier Henry
IND trades #10
Receives #16 (Bradley) + #23 (Seraphin, Sanders?)
*IND can probably get Bradley at 16 without reaching at 10 and they get a young PF to boot
2010 lineup:
Darko, Cousins
Love, Hollins
Prince, Johnson
Brewer, Henry, Ellington
Flynn, Sessions
2011 lineup:
Cousins, Darko
Love, Hollins
Johnson, Brewer
Henry, Ellington
Rubio, Flynn
That's a sexy lineup in 2011. The only thing I see missing is a long, athletic forward to compliment Love but we still have some cap space this year and next to get that last piece (wouldn't Noah look nice here?).

Re: C.lupus offseason rebuild V5.30
I like it. The only change I would make would be taking George at #10. But I think this team would be fun to watch...very nice size in the frontcourt, finally some strong 3pt shooters, and the bench would be pretty strong (are you cutting Gomes? I don't see him in a trade).

I also like George more than Henry at 10. Other than that, I like the ideas.

Thumbs up, and fairly doable. Hopefully Kahn can convert our cap space into at least some future picks as well.

I like George also but I was thinking he'd be more of a SF than a SG and with Johnson and Brewer I liked the idea of Henry to compliment. I'd be fine with George, though. Gomes would either be included in a trade (Indy?) as a sweetener or just cut. I'd rather have the cap space.

I'd be ok with this. It should be considered a reasonably solid floor for the Wolves offseason.
I think Cousins and Johnson are definite long term starters at C and SF.
I don't see Henry as a long term starter at SG
I would prefer they consolidate a few more of their assets and find a long term starter at SG.

Re: C.lupus offseason rebuild V5.30
Do 3 team deals with all three teams swapping picks typically go down on draft day? I can't really think of any, so this seems unlikely to happen. I'd like it if someone can prove me wrong, because those deals seem to make sense for all teams involved. I'd rather just wait to take whomever falls at 16, and if we don't want three rookies, defer pick 23 to a team for a future 1st rounder.
I don't see the point in packaging 16 and 23 together to move up a few spots to ensure we get the one guy we covet, especially when there is so much consolation talent on the board. Unless Ronzone and company have scouted and are positive about a prospect, I don't want to move up.

Its unusual to see so many deals that are realistic for the opposing team. In fact, depending on how the pre-draft workouts end up, I could see SAC willing to swap #7 for #5 for less than Pekovic.

Re: C.lupus offseason rebuild V5.30
I feel like Pekovic will be a very hot commodity come draft time. There are just so many teams that could use his bulk in the front court. Deroit, Toronto, Golden State, Sacramento, Chicago, and Utah all seem like potential landing spots for him.

Re: C.lupus offseason rebuild V5.30
I think George can play SG so he'd be the pick at 10. But there are a lot of deals that are proposed here that make sense that never get done and even more that get done but don't make sense. I mean if we're being honest Foye and Miller for last year's 5th pick, even if it didn't turn out to be Rubio or Evans or whoever, is a steal of a deal and made no sense for Washington last year.

Re: C.lupus offseason rebuild V5.30
I like it quite a bit; we have size, we have low post scoring, we have rebounding, outside shooting; the question is interior defense, that hinges on Cousins, but Darko helps out too. The Johnson/Henry duo is nice; Johnson/George works for me too.
I still like Hollins and hope he can develop his bball IQ. His athletic traits are off the charts and he's still young enough that he can develop into a solid role player

Seems very plausible and I like it for the most part. Also, assuming we sign Darko to something around $4 Mil/yr and cut Gomes or trade him, we would have a ton of cap space to play around with next year after Prince expires.

Re: C.lupus offseason rebuild V5.30
I really like the ideas you have and think they are really possible.
One thing is that i'm mixed on Johnson because of his age and unsure on defense. I was just thinking about that Flynn for Gallinari trade someone posted a while back and then grab him possibly.
PG- Sessions/Vetran Free Agent
SG- Brewer/ Henry/ Ellington
SF- Gallinari/ Prince
PF- Love/ Cousins
C- Milicic/ Hollins
I think Gallinari could be great and with Rubio coming we drop a point guard but just an idea and i do understand Flynn has great potential just not with our offense.

I don't think the Wolves are getting Gallo unless we give up Rubio and that's not gonna happen.

And with the 5th pick trade it to Memphis for the 12th, 25, and Thabeet. Made a filler for us but Thabeet would be a great project and then with 12 take George or Babbit. 25 for future first
SG- Brewer, Henry, Ellington
SF- Gallo, George/Babbitt, Prince
I'd even do that if we couldn't get Gallo cause i don't know if New York would do it.

I don't really like that at all. We have plenty of late draft picks this year, and should be consolidating the later picks, not adding more at the expense of a top 5. And Thabeet isn't a good prospect. I'd be really disappointed if that was the ultimate return for Jefferson and Pekovic.

^^^Same here. Thabeet just seems like a taller Ryan Hollins. I view him as having negative trade value since he makes so much $ and doesn't produce. By the time, if ever, he is able to contribute his rookie contract will be over and he'll be a free agent.

Re: C.lupus offseason rebuild V5.30
Solid plan. I agree with the earlier sentiment of going after George instead of Henry, particularly since he seems more likely to fall to 16 (though that could be changing of late). With Henry, we have 3 SG's, and Ellington is completely redundant. With George, Ellington could potentially have more of a role.
Ellington/Brewer/George/Johnson gives us a pure SG, SG who could play SF, SF who could play SG, and a pure SF, with a surprising amount of shooting. Even if one of the four flames out, we'd be able to field a full wing rotation regardless of who busts/leaves.

Re: C.lupus offseason rebuild V5.30
I like it. However, I'd rather take Henry and George (5 &10)than Johnson and Henry (5 & 10). I just don't feel the love for Johnson, I see the point but would rather take Henry over him and if we don't get George could live with Babbit or Hayward without moving up to #10.
