The Ryan Hollins thread
I think we've discussed everything there is to talk about Pekovic, Jefferson, Love, Darko, and Cousins. What's Hollins' role going to be? Will he be a 3rd string center (aka insurance policy aka DNP), a dead weight that must be traded, or will we only let him play the Mavericks?
Time for the coconut tree to get his own thread.

I pray that we are able to dump him as filler in a larger trade. Let some other team deal with the frustration of his total lack of basketball IQ.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Re: The Ryan Hollins thread
So am I going to have to be the one to make "The Nate Jawai thread"?
I think Hollins' role will be fairly similar, although if Pek does come over AND we draft Cousins, he'll be in trouble. I'm hoping we dump him asap, as well.

He'll be the guy that helps Cousins adjust to better athletes in practice

Re: The Ryan Hollins thread
Here is what I would like to see.
Darko+Cousins+(one of) love/Al/Pekovic
this is the main big man rotation. 25-30 a piece.
I then would like a hybrid 3/4 that could play uptempo as the 4 or as a bigger 3.
Hollins would get whatever big man minutes are left.

The two things you can say about Ryan Hollins is that he is athletic and always hustles. Being effective in gametime situations was another story. I think there is a bench role for Ryan as a defensive big vs stretch 4s.

Given his athletical abilities Hollins should be a star in the nba but he's not better than a 5th big
Forget about this guy.

The less minutes the better, he's too dumb to be effective.

Re: The Ryan Hollins thread
I'm perfectly happy with Hollins as a fourth big. He has the athleticism, he works hard, and he showed some positive signs last year. He just needs to continue adding weight. As is, he's better suited for guarding 4's, which was his main problem on the team last year, since Jefferson and Love were also better suited guarding 4's the majority of the time. I could see him down the road being much more effective on a more up tempo team run by Rubio.

Re: The Ryan Hollins thread
We shouldn't bother unloading him. I don't think a team is willing to even offer expirings for him (I wouldn't), so I believe we'd have to offer an additional asset so a team would take him off our hands. He's not tooooooo bad for an insurance policy who will rack up DNP's or limited minutes. He's not a dead weight, a cancer, or ridiculously overpaid, so just keep coco.

I think you answered all of your original post's questions nicely here.

Re: The Ryan Hollins thread
I'd rather bring back Stewie than keep Hollins. I hate to pigeonhole him, but it seems kinda like Hollins will only stay in the NBA because he's 7ft tall and that is a talent GM's seem to just throw money at. Stewie has at least shown some flashes with his shooting touch and rebounding, Hollins just dunks a lot.
