Rebuild through the draft and win now.

Post#1 » by swedisheagle74 » Sun May 30, 2010 7:17 pm

Trade Jefferson to detroit for Prince and #7

Trade the #45, 56 to NYK for pick #38.

Draft:

4- Cousins
7- Udoh
16- Whiteside/Orton
23- Willie Warren
38- Tiny Gallon

Re-sign Darko to a 3 year deal (while #16 and #38 develop) on the cheap & Sign some veteren role players like Kyly Korver, and Hakim Warrick.

Dump Hollins or Greene for a future pick to open a roster spot or send a rookie to europe....

Flynn - Sessions - Vet min or Rubio?
Warren - Korver - Ellington
Prince - Warrick - Brewer/Gomes
Love - Udoh - Warrick
Cousins - Darko - Whiteside/Orton-Gallon

Now we have a good cap situation going forward, with youngs guys who could develop. Warren is a Rodney Stuckey with Ben Gordons jump shot. Udoh is defensive pf that will be great backing up Love. Cousins could be a dwight howard like presence and Whiteside if available at 16 also has that type of potential... Orton would be a solid center like Emeka Okafor. In the end this a team loaded with Prospects that if they all develop trades will be needed.

It's pointless to have 5 rookies on one team. Two if not three of them will get almost no PT.

If we did have 5 rookies, I'd really want more than 1 of them to be a wing.

Legit question. Especially when these choices definitely wouldn't be BPA.

If that draft happened, I might kill myself...Just what we need is 4 big men, and an another 2 guard in a point guard body..

The NY pick makes no sense.

2nd rd picks could be stashed in europe without hurting our cap. It is good to have a lot of these because it is a crap shoot. Unless you are targeting guys.

i think a frontcourt with Udoh and Cousins would be dynamic. but we would have to move other assets for wings. im all for moving a Love or a Flynn for Gallo, and I'm sure Rudy could be had on the cheap right now.

Rubio
Rudy
Gallo
Udoh
Cousins

sounds good to me.

that is horrible. why would we want 4 centers? thats really bad. i dont agree at all. if we are gonna rebuild cousins and wes would be perfect.

At least take a wing at 16. One of George/Henry/Anderson/James/Hayward makes a ton more sense than Whiteside or Orton when we already have Cousins and Darko at C.

Flynn - Sessions - (Rubio)
Henry - Ellington - George
Prince - Brewer - George
Love - Udoh
Cousins - Darko

That wouldn't be bad but a lot of chips would have to fall just right.

The Prince/7 trade made a lot more sense when we thought Turner was headed our way. Now it makes less sense because it's mostly bigs in that territory - unless we can get one of Johnson or Aminu at 7 or by moving up to 5 or 6 or reach for George or Henry.

Seems like Aminu might very well be available at 7.

so take Aminu but if we got Prince we wouldn't really need the wings.. The idea was to load up on big men, and trade later. That is what I said.

Big men are hard to come by, so supply and demand says we would get great value..

Supply and Demand also says that since other teams know we're looking to trade a big, then offers for said bigs will be low. (our supply is so high, that the demand falls).

Yep, flood the market and it crashes. But I think it'd be impossible to rebuild this team through this draft and expect to win now.

The title of the post is rebuild AND win now, but how the hell does that team win now? I don't see how that team ever meshes together in the future with so many rookies trying to learn on the job at once, but they would be worse than this years team now. I think that team might win single digit games.

I don't think demand will change as a result of our supply being high. Demand will probably stay the same, just the price will be lower on each good due to the higher supply. Nevertheless, your point stands...

Demand isn't affected by supply, it is what it is.

Exactly.

Example 1:
Kahn: I DEMAND that you give me an allstar wing.
Team A: We don't have any to give.

Example 2:
Kahn: I DEMAND that you give me an allstar wing.
Team B: No, we won't give you our allstar wing.

See.

if your trading Jefferson and Orlando is looking for a power forward, would you move him to Orlando for say Gortat, Bass and Anderson then use you 3 draft picks for wing players?

Not sure if Jefferson and Howard can coexist but, Howard would help Jefferson defensively.
