If we win the first 2, we can bet the fate of the universe that it'll go 2-2 in large part to 2 well-timed extender crews. Then the bubble will move back to the level mark by Gm 6 as it did in Phx.

Do you REALLY believe that or are you just trying to convince yourself of that? Listen, I'm a Celtics fan and I like the Lakers to win in 6 or 7. But a sweep???? Forget it. Sweeps happen when one team has too many clear cut advantages at many positions and on the bench. Outside of Kobe, where do the Lakers hold a MAJOR advantage? I know Gasol could and probably should win the matchup with KG with KG playing far off the level he played at in 2008, but you must admit Rondo presents some problems for Fish and the Lakers and Perk can neutralize a banged up Bynum down low. The Artest vs Pierce matchup should be a wash at worst for the Celtics, although I still believe Pierce will find a way to play HUGE in at least one game. I mean, any Laker or Celtics fan predicting a SWEEP is out of their minds. Just isn't going to happen. Lakers in 6 or 7 and that's an honest opinion from a diehard Celtics fan. Good luck and let's hope injuries don't decide this series either way.

Saying either team will win in 4 is absurd. I wouldn't even say 5 games.

Lakers in six, close them out at Staples this year and give Kobe one for the thumb.

DEEP3CL wrote:These Boston peon's are killing me with this idiotic talk of supremacy again. I mean reading the GB quotes from those scrubs is ungodly funny. These clowns still revel in 08 like it was last month.

Do these clowns not realize KG is just a former shadow of himself ? In all 3 of his match ups in the playoffs his numbers have declined every series. He got to 10 and 8 against frail ass Rashard Lewis. I willing to bet the bank those candy ass fans of the Celtics will be quick to point out his numbers in the previous 2 series. Like no f**king duhhhhh, Miami it was the walking dead in Beasley and Haslem. Against the Cavs..........Side Show Bob, seriously besides being happy every minute he's on the floor with LeBron what the hell does Varajao bring offensively ? Of course KG was going to look good but it was all a smoke screen.

Then will facing Lewis his numbers and overall production faded, now he's about to face the most skilled 4 man in the Finals. Pau is a million times better than any 4 man KG faced.

Truth be told the Celtics are no different than any of the other teams we faced these playoffs, they all lack solid interior scoring. And the Celtics really don't have the size we have.

And the one thing all of the Celtics opponents had in common was this...........they faced teams that was codependent on one scorer. Yes they will try to counter that the Lakers are the same, but we know that is utter bull.

Man this is going to be fun, I haven't even gotten into the rest of those scum bags they call players. They can keep living in 08 all they want to, but come Thursday were gonna drag that ass to 2010.

How is 19/8 a "decline" from 16/9?

well, it also came with a huge drop in efficiency from 58% to 52%. that was from round one to two though, the most relevant part to deep's post was the most recent series, conf. finals, where he put up 10/8 on 39% shooting.

As hungry as this group was last June, it's going to take even more focus and determination to repeat. The "Grumpy Kobe" needs to come back, no smiling till we get 4 more wins!

I hope nobody on the team needs to be motivated or reminded of the Game 4 meltdown or "39 Points", that alone should get ANYONE pumped for a taste of revenge.
Thank you, Phil.

This. I think it goes 6 minimum. If we can hold serve in the first two games at home, I'm confident we can steal one of three in Boston. IMO those first two are going to be the most important games for LA. Do not want to see us go to Boston with a split.
Thank you, Phil.

I'll be thrilled if we finally stop posting up Gasol on Perkins and instead have him face up from 14.

Note to you Celtic fans.........don't expect to see me say nice things here on my board about your team, just the same as you aren't saying anything nice about the Lakers. I've posted exactly 2 post on your board.......and that's going to be it.

If not for this so called superiority complex you guys have, maybe I'd be willing to engage in respectable convo. You guys try to call us cocky and arrogant, check yourself and take a look at yourselves. No sooner than it became apparent is was the Lakers and Celtic again, all I saw was the same damn rhetoric displayed in 08. Fact is you chumps still live in 08.......wake the hell up it's 2010. Most of you front runners was barely posting during the season on your own board due to the Celtics horrible play for most first half of the season.

I saw a guys saying they enjoyed when I use to post there, that was then this was now. Fact is your team is not the superior team and your team isn't the defending champs. I read the idiotic post on your board, frankly they're funny and (Please Use More Appropriate Word) as hell to put it in common sense.

I get major respect from many boards and I certainly don't need validation from the Celtic board. Simply put it's the like you guys have the "little man" complex, you still want to talk like you got this made and the Lakers are just going to fold again.........do you guys really understand how hard it's going to be for the Celtics to win here in Staples ? Apparently not cause all I see on the GB and your board is, "we'll split in LA"..."we'll win Game 1"...."we'll win all 3 at home"...etc.

Do realize how stupid and realize the lack of basketball knowledge you have or show. I get respect
on these boards because of what I know. Flat out you guys are cheerleaders plain and simple, you don't have one ounce of basketball knowledge.

Welcome to the NBA Finals.

**

Men, we are on the plain where our forefathers bled and died to ensure the legacy of our people. We have finally made it to the mountaintop of Kings. Battles have been won and lost, and after a strong show of resolve in our last two battles with the Kings of the Southwest, we faltered in our recent conflict.

Disgusting. Are we to let something like this discourage us? Surely our testicles exist in this world of Irish Madness! As Laker Warriors, are we the ones to hand the championship to that wretched beast from the East (KG, Paul Pierce, Rajon and the like)? I for one will be damned! Revenge begins tonight, and we will NOT allow them to emerge victorious! Time and energy is on our side!

After making our way through the West, we have grown stronger. We have withstood the best punches of the best teams in the league, only to stand strong above them. Even though we are stronger than we have ever been, it has reached the point where our current enemies from Boston have grown expectant of victory! Do not let the splendid play of Rajon Rondo fool you men! We may be outnumbered, outhustled and outscored, but our fighting spirits are stronger! Only a champion forces a force greater then theirs to struggle to match our power! Raising their level to heights not yet seen in these Playoffs, they surprised us in our last battle, and yet we battled them to a standstill, before a critical error gave them the victory.

The 2008 NBA Finals tortured us yes, but are we to retreat into the obscurity of a shocked team? NO! We have fought hard in the months since then, and emerged to the top of the league – as NBA Champions! Led by the excellence of Pau Gasol, Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom, we will line up for what many thought will be our last stand, and WE WILL WIN!!!!

Men of Los Angeles....

WE MUST ATTACK XERXES (Boston) AS THOUGH WE WERE SPARTANS!

Do we allow foreigners to come into our land and desecrate what we hold dear to us? Some say that a comeback is madness. I say to he that utter this blasphemy......NEVER! THIS IS LOS ANGELES!!

Rondo: Choose your next words carefully, Kobe. They may be your last as MVP.
Kobe Bryant: [to himself: thinking] "Failure and loss"?
[Kobe unsheathes and points his sword at the overgrown Leprechaun’s throat]
Rondo: Madman! You're a madman!
Kobe Bryant: Failure and loss? You'll find plenty of both at home.
Rondo: No man, Laker, Cavalier, or Magician, no man threatens a Celtic!
Kobe Bryant: You bring the banners and rings of retired champions to my city steps. You insult my Centers. You threaten my people with shame and failure! Oh, I've chosen my words carefully, Celtic. Perhaps you should have done the same!
Pierce: This is blasphemy! This is madness!
Kobe Bryant: Madness...?
[shouting]
Kobe Bryant: This is LOS ANGELES!
[Kicks the messenger down the well]

THE LAND OF MAGIC AND KAREEM!! THE LAND OF WILT CHAMBERLAIN AND JERRY WEST!! THE LAND OF THE IMMORTAL GEORGE MIKAN THAT STARTED IT ALL!

DID THEY BACK DOWN!?!? NEVER!

Allen A thousand odds of the Celtic Dynasty descend upon you. Our three pointers will blot out the sun!
Bynum: Then we will bang in the post!

WE WILL NOT ALLOW THEM TO TAKE IT AWAY FROM US!! WE HAVE COME TOO FAR TO TURN BACK NOW!!!

Kobe, the entire Laker Nation cries out to you. It is upon your shoulders to guide us to the promised land. Listen to those calling out for the heads of you and your men. Our march cannot end at the feet Boston empty-handed again! You must wake up and flood the hearts and souls of the entire league with your greatness if we are to rise again among the Champions! Sasha has his many excuses (a vagina), but you have none! The entire team is on your back! You are our champion Kobe! You must reawaken! Now is the time!!

Your warriors are ready. This time around, we will not be as easily pushed around. We have a little more help this time.

Kobe Bryant: Lakers! Prepare for glory!
Perkins: Glory? Have you gone mad? There is no glory to be had now! Only retreat, or surrender or death!
Kobe Bryant: Well, that's an easy choice for us, Celtic! We Lakers never retreat! We Lakers never surrender! Go spread the word. Let every Warrior assembled know the truth of this. Let each among them search his own soul. And while you're at it, search your own!

Even as we look deep into the eyes of defeat, we must hold our ground! We no longer have the protection of our homeland on our backs, for we are in enemy territory now! This is easily the most hostile territory for a Laker Warrior to be in, as the war between the feuding tribes has stretched back to the days of our forefathers. We cannot allow these brutes to taste victory from our hands! Don't give them any breathing room!

Do we really want to lose to this?!?!

I'll be damned!

Davis: All that God-King Auerbach requires is this: a simple offering of earth and water. A token of Los Angeles' submission to the will of Garnett.
Kobe Bryant: Submission? Well that's a bit of a problem. See, rumor has it the Blazers have already turned you down, and if those former contenders and, uh, floppers have found that kind of nerve, then...
Gasol: We must be diplomatic.
Kobe Bryant: [ignoring Gasol] ... and, of course, Lakers have their reputation to consider.

There is no peace unless victory is attained. We must fight to win this game, for the odds are truly against us from the outset.

Celtic General: Lakers, lay down your weapons!
[a spear flies out and impales him through the chest, and he falls out of the saddle, dead]
Kobe Bryant: Stupid Celtic! Come and get them!

KOBE!!! TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT WE WRENCH VICTORY FROM THE HANDS OF THE RED SCARE!!!!!! GET MAD!!!!

Fact is he was less effective and clearly showing signs of wear or fatigue, he'll have his moments in the series but he won't dominate..............those days are over.

Yes--I'll agree that he's older...

He did play worse in the Magic series...

He did not play worse in the Cavs series...

It is not such a hard concept to grasp.

And your rant was nonsensical, going on about your "reputation" on other boards, as if anybody gives a flying ****. I've seen your posts dude- I've corrected you on the GB and you replied with something like "I was just testing you"....I took you at your word that time--now it's clear that you just don't know what your talking about...like really, Celtic fans can't admit that they're wrong? Have you read your posts?

And I've been on realgm for a while--your a real Lakers fan-- your not a Kobe rider or anything like that--and I respect that--but you seem to have trouble understanding basic things...
