2009-2010 Phoenix Suns: EXCELLENCE

Post#1 » by chriscringle95 » Sun May 30, 2010 3:50 am

These guys did the best they could and are going to be better next year. Resign the entire team and go into 2010-2011 with this group.

Best bench in the NBA, Best PF and PG, best offense and hardest working.

The Suns have the best chemistry in basketball.

Pay Amare the MAX!!!

You guys greatly overachieved. I remember when most didn't even pick you guys to make the playoffs. Congrats.

Stick with this team, and if Amare walks, let him.

I'm looking forward to see Dudley start next season.

Honestly, all I wanted was for the team to make the playoffs so that we won't be giving OKC a lottery pick. But to go to the WCF and sweeping the Spurs along the way, it was certainly fun while it lasted.

Just sucks how we lost to the Lakers and now all their fans here will be gloating again...

It would only have been excellent to win the championship. It was a good, surprising season, but I'm sick of moral victories. I'm sick of coming up short. I'm sick of losing to teams that have proven to be very easily beatable.

15 teams come up short every year, it's not easy getting past the 1st round of playoffs, let alone the 2nd round. Despite all the naysayers, we got to the WCF's with a team that overachieved. Even by the ASW, we weren't even getting mentioned as one of the teams capable of winning it all. To be one of the last 4 teams left, beating out purpose built contenders like the Cavaliers, Mavericks, Nuggets and Spurs, is a heck of an achievement in itself. I'm a realist and I'm immensely proud to have gotten this far after an entire season of doubt considering we would've called it in by trading Amare Stoudemire. We got to the WCF when we ourselves probably doubted we would've gotten this far, so for you to be sick of coming up short *this* season is seriously misguided. At this rate, even if we got to the Finals and lost, you'd still wouldn't be satisfied.

Indeed excellent season. It would have been a perfect season if our guys knew what a rebound is, but I guess it was still good.

Nailed it, LF. Look at who these team singed and how far over the cap they went - we were the team that more or less stood pat when everyone - Celts included - was signing up talent without regard for cost.
This is a great squad - just a coule of pieces away from really being a contender. Very proud of these guys

I'm not a fan of viewing the league in terms of contenders.
All that term does, IMO, is put a ton of pressure on the team and coach it's applied to.

Sure at the start of the season it's easy to say "well on paper, team X is a contender and can win it all" but at the end of day that is meaningless when team X doesn't even get to the finals and in fact it only increases the magnitude of their failure.

When the Suns were considered contenders in the Mike D years they only ever got as far as the WCF and this season when they weren't considered contenders they still made the WCF.

All you have to do is make the playoffs and then anything is possible.

BTW I agree with all the good sentiments on this thread. This was a brilliant season.

I remember that. Only because I wasn't so sure if we would either but I convinced people that were gonna be 6th seed at least. Turns out I underestimated my own team, the team I had so much faith in  .
