Well we know now that BC will throw Jay under the bus once next season starts to go sour and name PJ the head coach. Then that will be followed by the "well we need a full year under PJ to flourish" excuse.

I mean what about people of African descent, Caribbean descent, Asian descent and middle eastern descent??? These are the large majority of nationalities as well in toronto, why aren't they being scouted if BC feels the team should be the representation of our city?? In someway i believe BC as an American is somewhat being ignorant. I mean as a black male of Caribbean descent in this city i do not feel i can identify with the likes of bargnani, jose, bellnelli and turk... bash me all you want but i mean thats just how i feel in my own opinion. IF BC's thought of the players being a representation of the people in its city...well hes only seeing a small portion of the city...
I'm not going to bash you but I have some questions:
Why can't you relate to the players you mentioned? To state that with no reasoning is confusing and would lead people to think that you believe you can only relate to players of a certain ethnic background/nationality. Why does their presence on this roster offend you? Is it that you perceive they do not give the same effort as others on the roster or don't bring it on D, as many here would term "soft"? If so then why not throw someone like POB into the mix.
Should I feel disgraced with the franchise I've supported for 15 years because they've never attempted to trade for Luol Deng? Do you think that as an Englishman I can't relate to this team?
I'm 27, have worked hard to get better at what I do the last 10 years and now find myself in a position where I feel that I'm at a point where I have options to make big life-changing decisions that will ultimately effect my success and happiness over the next 10 years. Can I not relate to CB4's current situation as he's a millionaire african-american, born in Texas?
I love the game of basketball, I love to play (not so much these days though) and support the raptors as they're my team. That's how I relate. If you can't then why are you wasting your time on them if they don't get your blood pumping, heart sinking and your head reeling?
And finally Bryan Colangeloto to my knowledge has never set out his agenda to represent the multi-cultural population of Toronto. He's purely in the game of trying to build winning basketball teams. He has on many occasions let the media know of Toronto's attractiveness as a destination to European players but that's it. If I'm wrong then find me a quote to back-up this theory of yours that BC is attempting to build the first NBA squad with players of 15 different nationalities. If he was he really shot himself in the foot last summer getting rid of a Croat and an Argentinian.

No way Triano is still with us 20 games into the season. Just can't see it happening.
I don't care if PJ, Ivoroni or mop girl replaces him, just as long as Jay's gone.

The Mitchell firing set the bar, Triano's over/under is 17 games

Reggie will probably choke him a little lower if he gets provoked by Carlesimo.

Triano has a team option for the year after!!! So really this is his last year here!

Re: Carlesimo to Join Raptors - Confirmed!
If we were winning games all the cultural, ethnic, and nationality issues would be much less important, am I right?
I think we just all want this team to start winning. The whole Euro thing was overblown (is). I was at best lukewarm to any of it because it stinks of gimmick and distraction. Honestly who goes out of their way to say "I'm focusing on getting players from country/continent/ethnic group A because they'll like our city." What does that have to do with winning basketball games? Nothing. It was sideshow from the start, media fodder.
I am also sick of reading the whole "American's don't adapt to multi-cultural Toronto as well as Europeans, blah blah blah" it's conjecture. Hedo wants out so what do we say now? Turkish players hate Toronto? Or do we actually use contextual analysis, logic and facts to form an opinion on why he wants away from our TEAM. And I wonder what would happen if we did the same with American players from our history?
Let's not even get into the veracity of Canadian and GTA multi-culturalism (not race, not ethnicity, not nation, culture). Because that's a legit debate best staged elsewhere. So I don't care too much about the 'Euro' stuff, or if Colangelo is gonna reach out to another Italian connect. If you want to buy that argument, buy it. Whatever it takes to get you through this mess.
As for Carlesimo, I'm lukewarm here too. Could be a good assistant for us, in the right situation, but adding such a strong personality to such a jelly spined group could further complicate the chemistry problems this team is having. Or maybe it could be catalyst for some kind of unforseen change, I don't know. I do think he has much more charisma than Jay and I do see that as a problem, so I can see this going wrong. However, I hope it doesn't. I don't think we get much better because of this alone so I remain skeptical until further notice.

Wow, you cant relate to white players? Lots of racist talk on this board. Who cares about race or country? As long as they can play. I'll clue you in on something, theses athletes dont give a **** about you or me. Hows that for identifying?

I think you posters jumping on this guy are seriously misunderstanding the statements being made and arguments at play here. But I do love the hyper-sensitivity. It's amusing.

Thank you! At least someones not blinded by what I'm just saying. And call me a racist when you don't even know me shows your misunderstanding of anything. All I'm trying to basically say is that from a NON basketball perception BC and the media have this vison of the raptors being this international team with the mixture of international ball and NBA ball. If you've watched BCs press confrences in early stages of when he arrived, too me it seemed as though he was implying that he wanted to put a team on the floor that represents the city of Toronto and so far I'm only see him bringing in euros that's all I'm tryin to say. And at the end of the day when u see people that you can ulimately relate to you in someway feel inspired am wrong. That all I was tryin to say.

cant complain about this move at all... we get a defensive specialist who can take over as interim head coach once Triano is eventually fired

Dont have to know you. You said you cant identify with white players. You are basing that upon race. Therefore, racist. Pretty cut & dry. And im sensitive (the other poster)? Im not the one who doesnt like white people. Go watch an all black team if that makes you feel better.
-------- A Note from a mod -----------
Lets all cut down on the finger pointing with regards to racism. It's a known fact that if you're white, the Utah Jazz is the ONLY team for you to follow because apparently people can only follow and identify with teams that look just like themsleves. This explains why the Bulls were'nt popular at all to white America back in the day.

Uhh, not even going to bother...
Can we just agree that a winning team prevents all this non-sense? I don't think any of us really care where they come from, honestly. I'll exit here either way, as this is obviously touching a nerve with you and I'd rather not get into this. Good luck.

How does that make me racist if I can't identify with a person from a visual standpoint...so u guess your racist too since you can't identify with me... Get your facts straight tips.

Re: Carlesimo to Join Raptors - Confirmed!
I'm a white American and it's really hard to follow the NBA because there are so few white American basketball players. I can't relate to our players from a visual standpoint. I wish BC tried to acquire more white Americans so I'd feel more comfortable watching men play basketball. I don't care about the Raptors winning, I just want a Jake Voskuhl on our bench so I can look at him and smile knowing that BC cares about me.
