Pacers fan here with a question

Post#1 » by thunderbird1245 » Mon May 31, 2010 1:35 pm

Hello Grizzlies fans!

I have questions from Indiana: How much do you all think of Mike Conley, and what would it take from us in a potential deal to acquire him from you?

I have a deal posted on the trade board that goes like this, though I would be flexible and willing to hear counter offers that are reasonable:

Pacers trade #10, SG Brandon Rush, C Solomon Jones, rights to Euro Erazem Lorbek

Memphis trades #12, #28, PG Mike Conley to Indiana

I am looking for a fair deal for both teams, I'm not some idiot fan trying to stir up trouble. Is Conley's value about that in your eyes or am I way off?

With you guys seemingly wanting to let Mayo play more at the point, enamored with Avery Bradley in the draft, and possibly needing a wing to quasi-replace Rudy Gay, I thought this deal solved some problems for you.

From a Pacers perspective many of our fans hate moving Brandon Rush, who is a fan favorite because of his defensive prowess....something sorely lacking in Indianapolis. But we have to solve our PG situation somehow, and they young and homegrown Conley makes a ton of sense to me for us.

Thoughts?

Like I said in the thread you made in T&T, Conley will never live up to the #4 billing but he's a good fit with the starters. He doesn't dominate the ball and can spread the floor. He finished the season on a good note so I'm hoping he can carry that into next season (16.5 PPG and 5.5 APG).

He would have been traded by now if there was a clear upgrade but there really hasn't been (Ramon Sessions and Steve Blake). Indy's roster has intriguing pieces but I'm not sure it would be enough to pry away the only PG on the roster.

And as much as I like O.J. I don't think he's a PG and Coach Hollins thinks the same thing. It's going to take a lot for O.J. to be deemed the PG of the roster moving forward.

Your trade looked like you wanted the #12 & #28 with Conley thrown in?

If your intent is to acquire Conley then have a trade built around him alone and not the picks.
