Johnson or Cousins? Vote!

At #4, would you rather have DeMarcus Cousins (PF/C) or Wesley Johnson (SF)?

Cousins. I think if if he underachieves, he'll still have superior value to Johnson for at least a couple seasons and can be trade bait.

I'll go Cousins as well.

Can't turn down the opportunity to possibly draft the best C this franchise has ever had.

Cousins is BPA, we need a center, and there are wing prospects available later in the first round who are much better value at their likely draft spot than Johnson, and aren't far behind Johnson as prospects.

Cousins for sure.

Can't believe it's been over 3 years since I've posted here.

The #1 need of the Timberwolves is a potential superstar.

Cousins may carry more risk to even being a good player, but his upside is superstar.

I'd like to see a poll right now between Cousins and Favors.

Gimme Cousins or gimme death.

The real answer is both, though.

I voted for Wes and I'm brave enough to post and say why. I prefer Darko+Al to any combo with Cousins first of all. Secondly, I'm ready to win some games and as far as getting better, there is no way that we will win more games with Cousins than we would if we added Johnson. Thirdly, I want athletes and Cousins is the furthest thing from an NBA athlete (not saying he can't succeed).

If we can trade down to get Johnson + an incentive, I would prefer it, but if we have to I would definitely "settle" for Johnson at #4.

I just think he is a great consolation prize to Turner, he is athletic, a great shooter, good rebounder and fits a need.

Based on this and some of your previous posts, you seem to think Cousins is a project or won't give immediate help. That's not really the case, Cousins was the most productive player in college basketball this year. He'll help right now.

Cousins isn't a great leaper, but he moves great for someone his size. He's an athlete.

I'd take Cousins, but would be happy with Johnson. I don't feel too strongly either way. A good case could be made for taking either player and the right decision probably depends on what Kahn can do with our other post players in the event we take Cousins.

For instance, if we cannot get a reasonable offer for Jefferson or Love and the best we can get for Pekovic is a late first, then I'm perfectly happy taking Johnson.

My point isn't that Cousins is going to be a project (although I do think Pek will have more of an immediate impact). My point is that we already had some very good players in Al, Love and Darko(for 20 games). How is Cousins not only going to match that for our team, but improve upon it?

If we draft Cousins he is most likely not going to be as good as Love or Jefferson now, so we will as far as this season is concerned, be getting worse. As far as next season, I guess we have an argument there. I still would be fine rolling with Al at PF, Darko at Center and Love backing them both up ( I wanna see how they all respond to last season's difficulties).

He is an athlete, because he is good offensively. However, he's going to be slow getting down the floor, is already considered lazy on D and doesn't have the motor or athleticism to make up for that. At least with Al and Love we know they have bought into our system and understand where they need to improve. Cousins has a hard head and may not realize his weak defense for a couple years.

Do you think he's a good defender?

There's a lot of variables here. If Cousins is in frontcourt, that probably means we traded Love or Jefferson for a wing which should mean we're better.

I think he's got better physical tools to be a defender than Al or Love.

I'd assume he's going to be a better defender than Al just by virtue of size. And I don't really even consider Al a terrible defender, I just think he's inconsistent in his effort.
