he would be an excellent backup to Millsap. Not sure that's where we want to spend our draft money though.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I think your first assessment answer your second sentence...
Second lottery pick in a huge bunch of years... expectations should be more than a Millsap Backup...

It's hard to tell anything about Davis because in his freshman year he was a back up to one of the most productive power forwards in NCAA history, and in his sophomore season he broke his wrist and missed the last 3rd of his season.

When he did play however he was productive as a scorer, rebounder and shot blocker. In 19 of his 24 games he shot 50% or better from the field, recorded multiple blocks in 18 of his 24 games, and he did all that in just 27 minutes per game.

He showed good rebounding potential as a sophomore with 5 games of 13+ rebounds, and considering he is still small compared to what his frame will eventually grow into he has dominant rebounding potential.

In addition he is very good athlete, probably the best after Favors as far as lottery bigs go, and is younger than both Aldrich and Udoh, so he has more room to grow than either of those two. He is a week older than Hassan Whiteside, but faced considerably better competition including being a pivotal player in North Carolina's run to the championship last year. He also showed obvious improvement as a go to player this year.

I think he has solid potential, and all reports are that he is a good kid and a hard worker capable of achieving his high ceiling.

-High BBIQ
-Moves well without ball
-Good passer
-Great fit for Jazz offense
-Good shotblocker
-Good rebounder
-Extremely raw
-Not a shot creator
-Poor complement to Millsap

If the Jazz drafted him, Millsap would probably have to be traded after this season. In this scenario, hopefully he increases his value enough to be traded for Granger.

I would definitely pick him if he was available. Current he is tied with Aldrich for me on my board above Monroe, Whiteside, Udoh and Donatas.

I think he had a tough year last year living up to very high expectations put on a team that lost a bunch of players to the NBA. The guard play was inconsistent all year for the Tar Heels and most people were expecting more out of him offensively.

But if you look at his defensive potential with his shot blocking and his rebounding, and the fact that he has the physical tools to develop a dominant low post game I think you would have to considering him a nice pick up at #9.
