Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
your right he does move well however now my new fear after seeing 27.5 vertical is he's only 19. i think its safe to say he is not done growing, height probably but i bet he will put on more weight. what will happen if he loses some of his ability to move as smooth as he does? then we have a guy who cant jump and doesnt move great, just a big body. i believe his lack of jumpin ability is why his block stats are so low. doesnt look good

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
Cousins is and overweight, underachieving head case... I would be FURIOUS if we passed him at 5. In all honesty, I would be upset if we didn't get him at 3, or maybe even 2!! (K, probably not 2) But I truly believe that his abilities are worth taking the risk. From everything that I've seen/read, the guy has the second most potential in this class by a long shot- some people were even saying that he could have flirted with being the #1 pick had he not dealt with the off the court issues.
Yes, I understand that there are flags, but we need to take some risks in order to advance this team. We did it last year by taking a guy who was criticized for being to raw and just and athlete and that turned out pretty well, so why not take a chance on a guy who HAS THE ABILITIES and just needs a good environment to work under.
I also believe that Sacramento would be the perfect place for him to develop. It doesn't have nearly the distractions that he would face in a larger market, he wouldn't have to be the leader because Tyreke is already in place, he would have a supportive coach and all of the guys on the team are young and understand the situation he's in, so they would be there to help as well.

Cousins = Eddy Curry. I officially want no part of him.
His vertical is worse than Aldrich's!

Yeah, having all that muscle would do that to a jump.
He's got, what a 8'6 armspan? He's fine.

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
You know, how high a person can jump or not is really pointless at the end of the day. They really need to change the tests or at least add in some more categories. For instance a much much better test would be how quickly a person jumps and even more specifically how quick their second jump is. If a person can jump over the moon but takes 15 strides and way too long to do it it's completely useless in a consistent on court sense.
Cousins, while not being a good leaper, is not really that bad in regards to his jumping speed. Still, he's not going to get off the ground much or that many times during a game and that is a problem. Players will score over him and he will end up playing somewhat groundbound "Brad Miller" type defense. At least he's super long and physical though. Brad was neither and we saw for years what it can do for your interior defense, or rather to your interior defense
The thing that scares me about Cousins and his athletic ability is that he is just simply a very big person. 16% body fat by average standards really isn't all that high but he's still 292! That means he's truly "big boned". He can get better athletically for certain but the ceiling is lower than you'd like. Once again though, that size is more of a blessing than a curse because opposing players are going to have to deal with that 292 down in the post on a nightly basis.

I thought his standing reach was something like 9ft? If so than his 27 inches is more than twice what he'll need to get to the rim anyway.

Hmmm...I'm starting to think that Ed Davis could be the "surprise" player. His measurements have been impressive...

I like Ed Davis as well. Can't really shoot but good weakside shotblocker and rebounder. I am also starting to like Aminu more. I know we have multiple small forward prospects but he has the ability to be a game changer on the defensive side of the ball. 7'3 wingspan, athletic, young. Draft Express was talking up how coachable he is and how his shot is improving.

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
Bleh...I'm still really not into Davis. Good leaper, but while his length is fine, it certainly doesn't stand out. And it needs to stand out if you're going to be lacking in other areas.
The only thing that concerns me about Cousins is the body fat. Leaping and all of the speed and agility drills are extremely unreliable both in an on-court sense and also just because a lot of players don't put in a full effort at the combine. Why would they? Every team that works them out does their own measurements of everything, so why risk any type of injury? Guess who had the 5th lowest score on the agility testing last year? TYREKE EVANS. Why? Because there's just no reason to go all out.
But regardless of that, I'm not really bothered even if those are Cousins numbers. When you're that massive, you simply don't really need to get off the ground much.

Basically agree with everything. I don't think Davis is anything more than a decent prospect.

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
Draftexpress Had Aminu with the #5 pick. Then they put Monroe @ 5. DX actually has scouts that watch these players. Anyhow it seems they have Aminu higher than Johnson, but they have Cousins going #4.
I still think Aminu > Johnson. You guys last year all said Jennings would be a bust. You guys are all too quick to label.

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
I only imagine seeing that draftexpress is working out Aminu, they are going to lean towards him being better than Johnson. If they get clearance to work out Wes then most likely he's the better prospect

If you sleep on Beno, he can drop 30/10 on you.

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
I guess it all boils down to preference! You get the total opposite from each player imho. It's either instant offence with Wes, or a defensive wing in Aminu.

Yeah, but how many times was Deandre Jordan put in the top 5 on mocks at one time. It truly depends on preference and I'd bet that GM's would be more willing to put their name on the line with a proven player like Johnson that has a clear role in the league over somebody like Aminu. Of course all it takes is one team and if they are looking purely for upside he's probably the guy, dudes a stunning athlete.

Correction, Smills thought that Jennings would be a bust. A lot of Kings fans were actually interested in drafting him before the workouts began.

Last time I checked, Tyreke had a better season than Jennings.
