The Franchise_ wrote:What exactly makes this deal a sphincter demolition as you so delicately put it? You're getting a #14 pick which is actually pretty good, a NY pick which could be gold depending on this summer, and a very good player in return for a pick and a good player. Randolph is a better player than Chase which is why there is an extra pick going to GS, but if you think he's worth more than that deal is giving you may have him mistaken for Bosh, Amare, or somebody else that is a much better player. This is a fair deal and if it isn't please explain to my why? What makes the deal such a steal for the Rockets in getting the almighty Randolph?

This

Guy986 wrote:Its not a fair deal because 14 -----> 6 is a big jump. The 14th pick and the 2012 top 5 protected pick that may or may not be worth anything will not get you the 6th. The pick swap is bad value for GS.

And Randolph ,despite his injury and relatively disappointing sophmore campaign, is still a 7 footer with a unique skillset. He's worth alot more than Bud. So its a double wammy for the GS. Poor value in swapping pick and player.

But with Morey, you never know. He could be working his voodoo magic on the GS's GM at the moment.

and this.

thetofuroom wrote:The Warriors give up the better player, the better pick and the Knick pick could potentially end up being a 2nd round pick. I'm sorry, how's this even remotely favorable for the Warriors?

This is a sriously ridiculous rumour. If you think that the value here is fair then there's really not much to discuss with you as you clearly don't know how the NBA works.

if ur injured for 2 strait seasons, or every other year, ur injury prone. he played 63 games last season, that's not a healthy year. 70+games is healthy. hard enough to deal w/ 70 games, 63 is too much

63 games as a rookie does not mean injured. rooks get DNPCD sometimes.

Big fan of Randolph. If we can pry him away from GSW then we'd be set for the season.
HoopsMalone wrote:Shaq would still have value... But to think he'd be anywhere near as dominant as he was in the post era is just ridiculous

Can't imagine this being realistic.

Unless...has anyone seen the Warriors GM lately? Does he have bruises that could possibly be explained by a Vulcan mind meld? Did Morey grab him in Portsmouth?

I remember Deke got into his head big time in his last season. Randolph talked some junk about shutting Mutumbo up and wagging his finger in his face...and Deke just made the kid look silly! After the game I remember Deke saying something like "all the little boy wanted was to be able to tell his grandchildren one day that he blocked Mutumbo. I'm very proud of the little boy for trying his hardest." Or something along those lines.

I imagine that the Rockets bench laughing as this was happening is something Randolph remembers!

That's 1 way to look at it. Another way is to see an 18 year old kid having the balls to take it to his idols with no fear.

Wouldn't he have had to be effective to "take it to his idols?"

Seriously, tho, Coxy - what did Randolph do to fall so out of favor in Golden State (with management, not fans). Did he run over Nellie's dog one day?

He actually did pretty well against Yao. I think we still lost but I was pretty bouyed by the way he had no fear against 2 very solid defenders, even if Dikembe was 78 years old at the time. Randolph got a couple of dunks on Yao that made the highlight reels, but Yao in the end got the better of young Randy as he should have really. Fully healthy Mr Ming>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>18 yr old rookie Randolph.

The rift between Anthony and the Warriors management is a Don Nelson issue. Randolph wants to be a franchise PF, and is admittedly impatient about it. The Don has never played rookie bigs, but does understand the talent Randolph has. He's really hard on Ant and seems to hold a different expectation on Randolph than the other young guys, and Randolph doesn't like it and let's the Don know. We just saw Curry get played for 35 mins a night and make countless errors as a rookie but was allowed to play through them, whilst in Ant's rookie season he was benched if Nellie even sniffed an error coming from Anthony. The double standards must get to Randolph and the rift has developed. Hell, I would get pissed off as well if my team was getting killed on the boards and Nellie left Maggette in at SF to do the big man bang stuff as well.

The sale of the team and the management/coaching changes can't come quick enough for us. I just hope the team can stay together untill that happens, cause right now it feels like the Don and co are going to set the ship a blaze then get off at the next port.

I'm surprised how many took the bait. There were some HUGE clues. GSW has an abundance of SG's, would value Buddinger less than Houston does, or most teams would. Even most of the Houston fans thought the idea absurd and illogical. Had the proposal left out GSW "tossing in" #6,it might have passed for a legit rumor...and STILL dumb for GSW. Several "flunked the test" on the GSW board, a couple of real crapper "ideas" were on the trade boards. Kind of funny is a warped way.

It happens a lot in sports. There's never official confirmation to trade rumors and often the tale is some blogger about as savvy as your granny when it comes to hoops. This...someone was punking folks. They left it so NUTS to make for more fun when some fish took the bait.

Coxy has it mostly right, though AR did express that he got that Nellie was trying to make him the player he can be. At times AR would have a look on his face open to some interpretation, upset at himself? a ref? an opponent? Nellie? I don't care to guess wrong

Anyhow, the Warriors need to make it work. This year, sink or swim,Randolph plays.

As for vs Dikembe our Yao...tough challenges. Worth note, Randolph had his best game playing center vs Dwight Howard. The smart thing, naturally, is to challenge him-and PLAY him. Randolph playing under 25 min, was a COACHING malfunction. He did earn more.
