Jim Joyce's career as an Ump just went from, "Oh, wow, he's entertaining behind the plate" to, "Oh, he's the guy who **** up the Perfect Game."

Good luck to Jim Joyce on all future trips to Detroit, because he's going to need it

I don't think he ever will work in Detroit again. MLB can't let that happen.

Yep...once the inevitable storm of profane edits comes and goes, this is what he has to look forward to:

Donald Anton Denkinger (pronounced /ˈdɛŋkɨndʒər/, born August 28, 1936 in Cedar Falls, Iowa) is a former Major League Baseball umpire who worked in the American League from 1969 to 1998. Denkinger wore uniform number 11, when the AL adopted uniform numbers in 1980. He is best remembered for a controversial call he made at first base in Game 6 of the 1985 World Series.

Someone on twitter was suggesting Selig award Galarraga the perfect game anyway. I'm kind of torn on it right now.

I don't like post facto reversals, but on the final out, such that it wouldn't affect anything else? Give 'er, Selig, it'll be the first time in my life that I'll congratulate you on something. Unfortunately, he'll obfuscate, declare it a 'judgment call' and remind everyone that umpires are human, and then hope that people forget.

I don't think he ever will work in Detroit again. MLB can't let that happen.

I say that, but now I realize he still has a game tomorrow in Detroit. I bet there are people buying tickets right now just to make his life hell. And it's a day game so that's even less time for people to cool down. I don't think Jim Joyce will get much sleep tonight.

Also it's funny listening to Joyce try to spin it saying it was impossible to call with the naked eye and people needed 3 or 4 replays to get the right call.

More like one replay and I saw it live and it was obvious he was out.

Stolen from a Deadspin commenter, because it's just perfect:

It was close enough where you give the pitcher the benefit of the doubt. It's the 27th out in a friggin perfect game.

And I hope Junior wasn't expecting his name in the headlines at all

More impressive than the perfect game itself was that it only took him (or should have taken him) 83 pitches. That's unreal efficiency.
