Reversing the call would be an unprecedented move, and that's why I'm sure they won't do it. However, it's an unprecedented circumstance that probably won't have a postcedent. Honestly, I think calling Donald out would be the right move. Both teams and the umpire recognize that it was a perfect game, everyone who watches the play realizes it, the record books should realize it as well. That's why you have a human as a commissioner - someone who can distinguish when the rules evaded common sense.
Although in a way, Galarraga's no hitter may end up standing out more than any of the others, precisely of the situation surrounding it. Whenever another perfect game happens, everyone will mention this is the xth number perfect game, and someone will always bring up this one. It's just a shame he wasn't able to have that moment of jubilation on the field that he deserved.
Galarraga is going to have one hell of a standing ovation the next game he pitches at home. He may even get one on the road.

Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

That was crap. It would be unheard of to see this reversed, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be. The umps apology was nice and all, but it even in his best interest to see it get reversed. Otherwise, he'll become the new Steve Bartman.

...just wanted to say he pitched an epic game last night. The call was tough to swallow but needless to say I think Mr. Joyce feels pretty remorseful for the error

Re: Perfection or what should have been
A couple things
1) Armando got a Corvette for the pitching gem he threw. Pretty sweet consolation prize
2) Selig is going to look into instant replay and umpiring changes. No shock, but good

3) the call will not be reversed. the game stands as a one hitter in books, a perfect game in hearts

Re: Perfection or what should have been
Personally, I think that Galarragga has just found a permanent place in baseball lore because of the lost perfect game.
While he won't get the credit for a perfect game, the incident and his reaction will will be remembered for decades by baseball people.
Anyone going to remember anything specific about the last three perfect games other than the box score? This one wasn't a perfect game, but even non baseball people will remember last night for a long long time.

...Galarragga may have just earned himself a nod as sportsman of the year for the way he carried himself during and after the whole incident took place... these are the types of players we want as role models for the next generation.
kudos to you Galarragga, the game might not go down as perfect. But you as a sportsman certainly do.

Re: Perfection or what should have been
I'm still really upset about it. I do blame Jim Joyce because he made a bad call and then wouldn't even huddle and discuss it. Continuing instead to yell at Cabrera to "quit your f-ing whining". I accept his appology and harbor no ill feelings towards him. But I do blame him for the bad call.
What's worse is Bud Selig. If he had implemented instant replay years ago, like he should have, this would be a non-issue. Instead, he acknowledges the error but refuses to correct it. He's denying a kid his rightful place in hostory because of his own stubborn pride. This is why he's disconnected with baseball fans and why MLB will continue to fall in popularity while NFL rakes in billions each year.
I was a Galarraga fan before, but I am a diehard fan of his for life now. The class and dignity he displayed makes me proud.
Hopefully this will jumpstart the Tigers team out of their recent slump and set them on a new path.

This will be the reason it will get extended. The crazy thing is Armando will now be famous for the rest of his life. He'll be on ESPN so much, he'll probably start getting residuals.

Joyce is a decent umpire that blew an important call.
He STILL belongs in MLB.
C'mon now.
