He doesn't. I would have Brand replace Boozer. Maybe do a S&T with Gortat as the C.

Yeah, that's the combination of moves I'm really digging right now. Let's hope that Utah-Philly connection comes through one more time...

I definitely think a sweep would have benefited Utah with the potential of the Magic getting Boozer. There is still a great chance of the Jazz acquiring Gortat and say Bass in a S&T, but I would prefer getting Gortat and Ryan Anderson.

As for Philly I just cant see them making a move down, at least not with us. They're sitting on 24 million in cap relief (all in players they likely wont bring back) and could look to move Igoudola.

I never said Philly would do it without getting the 9th pick, I'm just saying thats the only way the Jazz would do it.

To temporarily solve our issues at C, we could expand the trade a bit and find a way to take Delambert as well. He is a good enough defensive presence. Certainly better than anything we have now.

First of all, the Sixers cap concerns are for NEXT year. They're concerned about the luxury tax next year, but once Dalembert, Green and Kapono come off the books, they're not up against the luxury tax, particularly when two of their starts (Holiday and Turner) will be on rookie deals.

So if you're looking to pillage the Sixers talent wise (which getting the #2 pick in this scenario would be), you have to solve our primary problem, which is getting under the luxury tax this coming year. This doesn't.

With that said, there's absolutely zero chance Philadelphia gives up the 2nd pick in this draft to get out of 2 years of Elton Brand's contract, especially when Elton Brand's contract isn't going to be pushing the sixers near the tax threshold. This trade proposal just doesn't make any sense. It fits the "Sixers are looking to unload Brand" angle, but doesn't actually address any of the reasons the Sixers are looking to unload Brand. What sense does it make to give up a potential cheap, young all-star in Turner so the sixers can go out and be players in free agency so they can acquire an expensive, old all-star instead?

Sixers ran into tremendous luck at Secaucus. They're not going to give that away for 2 years of relief from Brand's contract.t

It was just a trade that could maybe fit for both teams, and has been discussed in the media. But as a Jazz fan Im not ready to jump on this trade either. I feel bad for Philly fans for the Elton Brand situation. There is a reason your team is picking #2. But I thought it was a pretty good offer to get rid of Brand. Anyway good luck to your team and I hope that Turner really does turn into the All Star your team desperatly needs.

LO fing L at people thinking this rumor has legs. Ed Stefanski will be MURDERED if he does this trade. Even if you guys had the #5 pick (which would assure the SIxers either Cousins or Johnson) SIxers still probably wouldn't do it. You don't trade potential franchise players just to get cap space.

GMs make unpopular moves all the time. The thing to remember is that GMs don't directly report to the fans. The fans can't fire the GM. GMs typically report to the owner or team president.

I'm not arguing the likelihood of this particular trade; I'm just trying to point out that in today's NBA, especially in the last year of the current CBA, fans' desires and owners' priorities may be more divergent than ever.

Well, GM's may make moves, etc etc, and this may have been talked about in the "media" which I don't really believe is true. But the bottom line is our insider who has access to our front office pretty much whenever we need it, has told us multiple times that the deal would have to BLOW away Stefanski in order for it to be considered.

Meaning, you better be willing to take Brand, give back less salary this year and possibly have that contract be expiring, give up a top 10 pick, AND throw in a good young player.

There is practically no deal between the Jazz and Sixers that lands the Jazz the #2 pick.

The ONLY one I think Stefanksi would consider is Koufos, Miles, 9th pick, future 1st, AK for Brand, #2.

And I know it will be laughed at by Jazz fans, but it is probably the only deal Ed Stefanski would consider, and even then he probably wouldn't do it.

I'm sorry but you would have to be a complete idiot to make that move.

You want the Jazz to give up AK (18 million expiring and in his prime), 9th pick, future 1st, CJ Miles (young talent on the upside, worth a lottery pick alone) and a developing Kosta for the 2nd pick and the worse contract in the NBA? It would be an insult to even offer that deal.

Best case would be AK, 9th pick, Kosta for 2nd pick and Brand. You would probably have to throw in Jason Smith or some other young filler too.

And no disrespect to the insider you guys have over there but it is no secret that you guys are crazy desperate to get rid of Brand. I don't think the deal has to blow Stefanski away by any stretch if it involves getting Brand out of Philly, especially if you guys get an expiring in return.

I know I have been against this idea from the start but I have decided to flip over to support it (if it's even possible). The Jazz just don't get the chance to get a top 3 pick in the draft...ever...if you have a deal that can get you in the top 3 you have to do it. You also can't sell your whole team to get there though so you gotta be careful...

AK, #9, Miles, and Kosta for #2 and Brand... the Sixers would still say no. Kosta is worthless. Miles is an alright player but he's not going to improve to much more than he is now. #9 could get us a nice player but nothing special. So essentially the Sixers are giving up a potential franchise player just to get some cap space.

I've only read the last two pages of this thread, so not sure if this offer has been discussed already, but how bout something like this?

Brand
Dalembert
Willie Green
2nd pick

for

AK47
Okur
9th pick
Kosta

Gets Philly under the tax this year, shaves two years off Brand's deal, brings back the 9th pick and Okur replaces Dally.
Gives the Jazz a new look along with the 2nd pick, although if Boozer, Fesenko, Korver and Matthews resign you would be beyond deep into the luxury tax.

I highly doubt Philly trades the pick, unless they trade down with Minny, but just throwing this out there.

Realistically I could see a Jazz-Sixers swap based on AK/Brand if their picks were a little bit closer, like 2 and 5, or 5 and 9.

The Philly "insider" on their board officially labeled the #2 and Brand for AK and #9 (and these minor variations) as being crap. They also deny the rumors from Chad Ford that they would move the #2 pick to move Brand. I think its time to stop beating that dead horse...

Yeah, we got inundated with BS for AK. This will happen when people see an opportunity to resurrect a viable yet overpaid player.

Move on to Gilbert! He will play for Washington and things will smooth over.
