2010 Jazz Pre-Draft Workouts

Post#1 » by Beto » Fri Jun 4, 2010 6:32 am

Alright, got a tweet about this today, didn't see this posted so I thought I'd share the info. Also thought we can post upcoming Jazz pre-draft workouts on this thread...

June 4, 2010

"Georgetown center Greg Monroe to work out Friday.

SALT LAKE CITY (June 3, 2010) – In preparation for the 2010 NBA Draft, the Utah Jazz will hold a pre-draft workout with Georgetown center Greg Monroe on Friday, June 4, at Zions Bank Basketball Center."

He would be a good pick for the Jazz. He is either a big PF or small Center. He also already said he wants to play with DWILL and Utah which is a good thing. I have seen him move up some draft boards though so he may not be there for the Jazz. I rank him the 5th best player in the draft after the obvisious top two then Cousins and Favors. after these 5, there is really no one I want for the Jazz.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Look at his draft bio on NBA.com. His uncle played football at BYU. Any possibility he wants to play for Utah because you never have home games on Sunday for some special reason?

I dunno, ask him if he has a specific day specification. He's awesome from what I read.

Next time I meet him I'll totally bring it up. I like him too to be honest. We're having pipe dreams of if Amare's gonna walk we should do something or other. My personal favorite fantasy involves dealing him and maybe something extra as an expiring to get Biedrins, Randolph (as they seem to hate both of them), and their pick to snatch him up before you can

Dear DBrimstone,
I'm afraid you will probably lose Amare for nothing. Don't hold your breath for any Amare trades. Most people seem to believe both Lebron and Wade will stay where they are. Which means the teams that sold away the season in hopes of signing one of those two players are going to grossly overpay for players like Amare and Boozer.

Either we're gonna overpay him, or our owners will realize he's not actually worth a max contract and let him go. I hope we deal him as an expiring if it comes to that. I just don't see what the difference between him and guys like Boozer or David Lee are. They all shoot almost the exact same percentage, score about the same, rebound about the same (Amare's actually like 2.5 worse than those 2) and they all play zero defense. And this is as a Suns fan. I just don't see what he brings that those 2 don't. He disappeared in the WCF's so it ain't leadership. He's been better than in the past but still... If he walks, we've got 13 mil in cap space, and I hope we can get D.Lee to be honest.

And I hope you get Greg Monroe with your pick. The Jazz are one of my favorite teams aside from my own.

Gotta agree with DBrimstone..seems like they all have problems with "D", just depends on what you want to pay and if it's too much then make a trade and get something in return. I'm ok with him staying but hopefully we will not overpay...and if he goes? Well draft or David Lee or someone will step in I'm sure with better players around him. Looking at stats there's not a whole lot of difference between the 3 and if the Jazz got a free agent PF with a strong blocking rebounding center.. we might be better off it all depends on the $$$ boozer is asking..or who knows which player works better in our system? *shrugs*

(also heads up, had a friend e-mail me and he told me that Boozer was at a Yankee game yesterday or the day before...sounds like he's going all over the place visiting Chicago on a radio show now New York..)

So.. a multi-millionaire athlete is spending his offseason vacationing all over the country, attending other sporting events and guesting on sports radio? Shocking development!

I wish we could of had him workout against other prospects instead of individually.

Aminu, Babbit, Haywood, Henry, Damion James, Ryan Thompson.
I expect the Jazz to trade down if they're thinking on picking a wing...

This is going to be a pretty intense workout if you look at this. These are all the top swingmen that are in our draft range except Paul George. It should be interesting hearing KOC talk about these guys.

I would love to see a head to head workout between Udoh and Monroe. I fully believe Udoh is who the Jazz needs at the #9 spot, even if Monroe is still available.
Jazz_Man_86 on Favors:

"He is not Dwight Howard. He's max is 20 + 13 + 2 = is this a supers tats? No."

Dwight 2011-2012 - 20.6 Points - 14.5 Rebounds - 2.1 Blocks

What I do know is Monroe's climbing the ladder really quick. Right now several serious mock sites have him going inmediatly after the "Fab 5" of Wall, Turner, Favors, Johnson, Cousins... and I'm getting the sense that Udoh will be the next to climb (after the mini-Haywood show that's going on...)

FWIW, my own draftboard as of right now... Turner, Wall, Favors, Cousins, Monroe, Udoh, Johnson... after these 7 I really can't find a big differential between several other dudes (yet Sanders is still high on my list...)

And in the middle of all this Tomic's future continue to intrigue me big time...
