Beasley available - let's deal

Post#1 » by Bassman » Fri Jun 4, 2010 12:43 pm

Per the wiretap, the Nets turned down an offer from the Heat to trade Michael Beasley for Keyon Dooling.
The Nets have rejected a trade offer from the Heat that would have sent forward Michael Beasley to New Jersey for guard Keyon Dooling, according to ESPN's Ryen Russillo. Miami doesn't consider Beasley a part of their future anymore and is even looking at lopsided trades in an effort to clear additional cap space.

I suggest we offer Boris Diaw for Beasley. Being under the cap Miami can take back the extra $ ($4.9M versus 9M). They may think that's a better option than taking a crap player to clear another $1M in space. If not Diaw, I don't see any option to take on more salary. That gives us a talented head-case for Larry Brown to train up (I think he can do it), and provides us a 2-headed monster at PF in Beasley and Tyrus Thomas. Also gives us flexibility to either re-sign Felts at a reasonable price or make another deal for a PG.

Heck, if we're the home for Captain Jack why not Beasley?
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

They're not going to take Diaw for Beasley.
As Slam mentioned in another thread this offer is Miami trying to clear cap space immediately while cutting into the cap space of a team also competing for the big name free agents. A clever attempt that New Jersey isn't buying.

If we had a player with a non guaranteed contract like Dooling's (would only cost Miami $500K) that we could trade straight up for Beasley we might be a slight chance, but that would be about it.

Screw SCB - If Anthony Randolph is on the block (again) I want him.

Pity we don't have the horses to get anything done.

so what do the heat do now that the nets turned down that deal? they basically just tried to give away beasley for cap space (good move if it works or is kept quiet). certainly he cant be thrilled to hear this news. it was already a rocky relationship between beasley and miami. i kinda figure they have crossed the line of no return with him. it would probably be in their best interest to trade him this summer rather than risk having a sulking beasley ruining team chemistry all season.

No, they tried to give him away to create their own cap space, but also to take a potential big time player in the FA sweeps this summer a little out of the running for the big name FA players.

Considering the amount of trade rumors the swirl around the NBA I think if you were a GM and lost sleep over how a player would react if their name is mentioned in a rumor you would never get any sleep.

Never really followed Beasley, but if he can play SF...how was this not thought of?

Michael Beasley to Minnesota for Ryan Gomes. I don't remember what Gomes is guaranteed for, but thats actually possible.

Because Minnesota isn't in the running to sign two max FA's this summer and in competition with Miami to do so.

Some people seem to be missing the point of this clever trade idea that the Heat came up with and are instead suggesting that a player like Dooling or Gomes is equal to the value of Beasley and some Miami cap space.

yeah yeah... i get why they made the offer... but this is different than hearing your name in a trade offer. he's been hearing that for months. this is a real slap in the face towards beasley, imo, regardless of it being a good move. i would be shocked if beasley is on the heat roster come october. he will be traded.

I would 100% have him on our team in the place of Tyrus.

as much as i am not a beasley fan, i would also take him over tyrus for the scoring potential alone.

I would love to get Beasley on the team. Just dont see how since Miami wants to dump salary and we dont really have any good options to deal that to them. Pity.

Rumors were false, Riley wasn't trying to dump Beasley for Dooling.

Maybe Miami's trying to find a way to land the full Monty...LeBron AND Bosh to go with D-Wade! That would be 3 monster salaries plus lots of minimum wage ducks placed beside them.

I seriously doubt we pull off any decent trade this offseason. Who do we have that someone MUST have on their team? Right, nobody. Crash is the only guy you could deal for something and we can't afford to lose him.

I don't really get the animosity, Beasley has not come out like gangbusters but he's really had a pretty solid start to his career. With minutes he'd be an 18/8 PF, admittedly not so great on defense, but he's still on his rookie contract so it's not like he's overpaid. He has obviously more potential than Tyrus, and is probably about as good.

Lets get rid of "No Show" Diaw for Beasley, at least Beasly is young and with LB as his coach who knows what he will become

Return to Charlotte Hornets
