I thought at the time they were very comparable talents, with JJ being the better overall player and Redd being the better pure shooter/scorer. That was only partially correct.

JJ has always been a great passer but he is not the better rebounder. They are pretty much equal w/ career 4.1 and 4.2. Comparing JJ and Redds defense is like saying you'd rather bare foot step in puke than poop.

JJ is a better defender. Neither are that bad. Redd tries defensively he just lacks the lateral quickness to be effective.

I suppose you're right about the rebounding so then I will add that JJ is a far better athlete, but so is my grandma so I guess that isn't that big of a feat.

Yeah, pretty much every NBA player was/is a better athlete than Mike. That makes him pretty unique IMO. I mean, has there ever been a less athletic elite scorer in the modern era? I guess that just shows that he worked for his skills, nothing he has was god given.

Redd was a very hard worker. Nonathletic and couldn't shoot to save his life he worked his butt off and became an elite level shooter. In the process though he lost the scrappy player he once was and for some reason thought he was a superstar player. He became lazy in many areas of the game and a me type player.

The only thing god given he had in terms of the NBA was his size.
