Timberwolves interested in Tomic?

Use the Grizzlies pick to move up to six and then use Tomic to move up to four? Doubt it happens, but it would be nice.

Don't think he has that much value until the off season he is ready to sign.

From what I have heard and researched on Tomic lately, I think he's too valuable an asset to trade away for anything that isn't top 3.

I hope you are joking.

Honestly, if anything is in the works I would have to imagine it's something like Tomic and the Memphis pick for the 16 pick or the 23 pick and maybe one of their players.

There just isn't a lot of value in former second round draft picks that are going to be at least a few years away from coming to the NBA.

As a Wolves fan, here is my take.

From my understanding, Tomic is not ready to come over and contribute right away. With the Jazz a perennial playoff team and with the possibility of losing Boozer, you need someone who can contribute right away. I think we have a player who fits that bill in Nikola Pekovic.

He has stated that he will be coming to the NBA next season. However, the Timberwolves frontcourt already consists of Jefferson, Love, Milicic, and the high chance of drafting DeMarcus Cousins. That has made Pekovic available for trade. He is a bruising low-post offensive threat, compared to the likes of Al Jefferson.

I think a swap of these two, and maybe a little more incentive going to Minnesota, would be a great deal for all parties.

We don't want Nikola Pekovic. Thank you.

mm.. we have waited this long to get him over here.. I'd like to see what he can do in a Jazz uniform instead of shipping him off *unless it's a great deal..*. It would be our luck if we traded the next Gasol before he even played in the U.S.

I'd probably do a Tomic and the 9th pick for Pekovic, the 16th pick, and 23rd pick trade. I don't think the Jazz would do that trade though.

Its hard to gauge guys like Pekovic or Tomic. I'm sure the organization has scouts who could tell you more but be shocked to see the Jazz trade very much for Pekovic. Tomic signed a 3 1/2 year deal in Spain in January...who knows on these guys....

I don't dislike this trade, but I can't see it happening unless it's part of some other deal. I mean, how often do NBA teams trade just European player rights?

Edit: According to the DesNews Tomic has a buyout option next summer.

From what I hear he would be like a more physical Scola.

Tomic's been mentioned as a really skilled prospect for quite some time, and now his game for Real Madrid has been gathering high praise. I don't think he's viewed as an ex second rounder any more.
I feel that Jazz FO first has to determine if there's chance or not for the kid to cross the ocean for the 2011-12 season. He doesn't look like he has the bulk, but he's playing solid and competitive basketball, and I probably don't think we should trade his rights if we are not going to land a really good thing for him.

Tomic has been doing great in the European leagues, so much so that I don't think that a guy available after 16 is going to have as much impact as him coming into the league.

For comparison it seems that at first glance he is doing better than Jan Vessely who was supposed to be a lottery pick this year.

looking at the play-offs, he is the MVP of Real Madrid!

you can watch him live right know at:

1 minute to go in the first half: Tomic with 13 PTS (6/8 FG + 1/1 FT) + 8 RBS plaing against Tiago Splitter!

Alright, I'm on the Tomic band-wagon, I think he'll have an impact when he comes over.
