idk, probably if we can't get Cousins and we feel that Wes Johnson can't play the 2-guard alongside Evans then I would hope we draft Monroe... at 6'11" 247 he is a valuable asset with high Basketball IQ.

I can see Petrie drafting a guy like Monroe..
Especially if he performs well in his Pre-Draft workout and Impresses Petrie.
Petrie tends to go after the "BPA" and last Seasons Draft.. every one thought Rubio was the "BPA" but it ended up being Tyreke. So yes, I can see us thinking Wes Johnson is the "BPA" and then Petrie Drafts Monroe. But who Knows who the "BPA" is at the 5 selection.. Well see who Petrie chooses on Draft day! I'm pretty stoked for this upcoming Draft!! :D

Monroe seems like one of our better choices in my mind, Petrie's always liked bigs that have good passing skills, and that's Monroe

If we moved back to about 10 and aldrich/bradley were off the board, yes.

Honestly, Cousin's red flags make me nervous enough where I think I'd rather have Monroe.

I'll take Cousins before Monroe. If our choice at #5 is between Monroe and Wes Johnson, then I'd be okay with Monroe, but I'd also be happy with Wes Johnson. I could actually see Monroe fitting well enough with Evans IF he does develop into the player he can be. But, again, I'd rather take Cousins.

Monroe just doesn't project to be any better than Thompson or hawes I would hate to waste a pick on a guy like that.

I think Monroe will probably be better than Hawes and Thompson but how much?

If we were to take Monroe that would mean you'd have four big men each requiring respectable minutes. Doesn't this mean one has to go? Which one? I figure most here would vote Hawes, what's his value?

Huh? There's zero chance Monroe lasts past Utah at #9. In fact, I doubt he lasts past Detroit at #7.

Yet Aldrich does? Couldn't disagree more with your analysis, sorry.

I think they project to be pretty similar in terms of over all ability. But we need what Aldrich brings so, so, so much more than we need Monroe. Offense is only one side of the ball.

Bingo, you can't just look at overall talent, Aldrich does things on defense better than just about anyone else in this draft and that inherently increases his value. It's no coincidence guys like Aldrich tend to be on most contending teams.

^^^exactly. Talent only has so much to do with value after that you have to look at skill set, and Aldrich has the skills set that A. We need and B. that increases his value because he plays defense.

While what Aldrich brings may be more of a need, I wholeheartedly disagree with the two have similar projects in terms of talent. I really think Aldrich may be a rich-man's Greg Ostertag when all is said and done. I think Monroe will be at worst a Joe Smith in the prime level player.

John Stockton and Karl Malone might of had a little something to do with that.
