First of all, on both sides of this, we need to dial it down a lot here.
There are over three weeks left -- there will be plenty of pieces of good & bad news on either side -- and we can't have this degenerate further. We will keep a tighter leash on this conversation and suspensions will be handed out when people cross the line.
But, I must say that I really feel that Bulls fans are clearly in the wrong on this.
Why do I say that?
Well, looking at this objectively, I've noticed a few of you coming here lately with insults and attacks that are not based on anything but what seems like sour grapes rather than actual conversation and discussion about basketball.
My guess is that the Larry King interview (and LeBron's "greatness" thing on Nightline) have a lot to do with it.
Many Bulls fans seem to have convinced themselves that LeBron was in love with the Bulls, had already decided to play there (he said he was far from close to a decision with Larry) and was even house hunting in Chicago.
Now you're disappointed that he's not yours, at least not yet. Well, I have no problem with you being disappointed but you shouldn't come here and lash out. It's not Knick fans who have led you to believe that LBJ was in the bag. It's ESPN and Mike McGraw, etc., so really you have no business coming to our board and acting like jerks just because you are feeling bad about it. You sure as heck wouldn't find me (or too many Knicks fans, I hope) going to your board if we heard bad news about LBJ to the Knicks.
To bring this back to actual debating points, I strongly suspect that many of you have come here to vent your frustration because:
- LeBron clearly did not say anything about joining the Bulls other than mentioning that he was an MJ fan growing up. Whether Larry had "inside information" is a subject of debate but I don't think so personally. It's fine for Bulls fans to disagree with that but it looks like since Larry thinks he was the first one to discover that LeBron was an MJ fan growing up, he ran with it. Honestly Larry is too elderly to be digging for information. He also thinks the Clippers have a chance. They do not. He's a very bad source of information.
- LeBron didn't comment about the Knicks either, but what's good for us is that he seems quite focused on that free-agent meeting and possibly going somewhere with another big free-agent. He mentions it a couple of times and even says "pair up" with another guy to better the league. LeBron is on record as thinking that NYK is important to the league and bettering the Knicks means bettering the league. So that is all good for us. As far as pairing up with another Max, well that is better for us than it is for you of course. We have more leverage for two Maxes than Chicago.
- Finally the "greatness" thing seems to have brought out the worst in Bulls fans too. But while I do think LeBron is partial to the Knicks, I wouldn't read too much in to that. He was joking around with a Knicks fan for the most part. LeBron is very much a politician too and if someone handed him a Bulls hat, he'd say nice things about them too.
In any event, it's not acceptable for you to come here and be abusive just because you may be disappointed, don't think we're good enough for LeBron, etc. Cease the anger and stick to basketball and trying to calmly read tea leaves. You're not permitted to come here and turn this into a circus. If you guys want to say terrible things about the Knicks, Knick fans, and RealGM Knick posters, well my advice is to stick to your own board and keep it there. As long as you don't violate your own board's rules, knock yourselves out. Do not come here and do it. Everybody is warned.
As far as RealGM Knick posters, don't argue back with them. Let the moderators take care of it. We won't let this get into a mud-slinging match so if you fight back, you'll be disciplined too.
Thanks.
