I look at Demarcus....he just looks like a kid who is naturally big...I don't see fat here:

These guys look like they have completely different physiques to me.

I understand everyones point, but I cant help but see Favors as the workout warrior and Cousins as the player. If it were a Mr. Olympia competition...Favors is definitely the guy. Along the same lines and Jet fans can attest....think Vernon Gholston.

I think Randloph comarisons are legit for Cousins...right down to the perimeter skills coming out of highschool. Calipari did say (sarcastically) that this guy thought he was a 6'10" guard when he came in. Randolph had that same type of skillset. I think we are talking a bigger version of Zach here. In my opinion thats not necessarily a bad thing nor is it unrealistic or out of the question to think with a kick in the butt he could be significantly better than that. As far as Curry goes? We are talking about a guy who is a significantly better rebounder and shot-blocker and guy who measures slightly bigger as well. And although wight-wise similar...physique wise not as much. Look at the late highschool pick of Curry....his body simply a different shape than Cousins's

Alot of guys are rubbed the wrong way by Calipari. Again, with a coach cut from a different cloth (pro guys tend to be slightly more laid back) Cousins could really blossom.

As for Favors?? Remember Dwight showed up at predraft camp with a completely transformed body. If Favors shows up for the next batch of workouts looking like Adonis? Ill be on board. Take him. But
the ability to score inside is a skill that is becoming more and more uncommon in the pros. So as of now...I think the pick should be Cousins.

That being said......all signs seem to point towards Favors as far as the guy the Nets are targeting. We will see. Still a long way to go.

Just random question for you guys:

If Turner is there at 3 and Minny offers us Kevin Love/Rubio for #3....what would you do? VC4P and I have been running our mouths for 2 solid years about Evan Turner, but this would be touch for me to decide.

I will be anyone that before the draft, Thorn will call Minnesota gauging their interest if Turner is there at 3.

I'd maybe do it for Rubio and the number 4, but not Rubio and Love. Brook and Love would be abyssmal on defense, regardless of how well their skill-set fits together on offense.

Edit: Not saying I would do it either way.

The value is sick, but what exactly are you getting?

Rubio is a huge question mark and could become the next Shaun Livingston.
What does the 4th pick get you?
Either Cousins or Wes Johnson.
We all have enormous concerns with Cousins and Wes Johnson has all the makings of a solid role player.
Now Turner is certainly no given either, but he is the one with the true star potential, the franchise player potential and has the lowest bust potential.
It turns a gift into a bigger risk and it's somewhat quantity for quality, unless Cousins turned into the monster he could be.

I don't love it, I don't hate it...

I don't understand this. How is Rubio any different than any other non-number 1 or 2 pick in the draft?

I don't understand this, either. I never said I would do it, all I said is I would rather have Rubio and the 4th, not Love.

Think about it, though: If Turner falls, that means that Cousins would be there at the four. That means we could trade down to five, gather another asset, and still be able to get Johnson.

Continuing on from above, if we could get Johnson and another asset, along with Rubio waiting in the wings, I think that VASTLY improves our chances at Lebron. After all, we would have so many assets to trade to get another max player, and still have Rubio waiting to come over, allowing the team to get better, rather than just stay the same like most contending teams do.

You guys are joking right?

Of course you do this deal, its a steal whether its Rubio + #4 or Rubio + Love. You get 2 players worthy top 5 picks for 1, its a no brainier. Whoever is picked is just as much a questionmark as Rubio.

And why is Philly taking Favors all of the sudden. There is just as much chance (very little) they take Cousins and we still get Favors at #4.

I'd probably do it, I just wanted it to be known that I could see not taking it, as well, since Turner is a superior player to either Rubio or Love in my mind.

GS and Minny talking about Randolph and swapping picks? Remember my totally unrealistic dream scenario, my God thorn, WTF ARE YOU DOING, GET ON IT.

Alright, I've flip flopped even further, don't hate me.

Seeming as Rubio + the 4 is way too good for us IMO, at least as on paper value that is, what could be realistic without gutting the team of assets?

Minnesota outgoing:
4th overall pick
Ricky Rubio

Minnesota incoming:
3rd overall pick
Anthony Randolph
2012 GSW 1st(via NJ, obviously not guaranteed to be a 1st rounder, at least in 2012, but I'm saying.)

Golden State outgoing:
6xth overall pick
Anthony Randolph

Golden State incoming:
4th overall pick
Yi Jianlian

NJ outgoing:
3rd overall pick
2012 GSW 1st
Yi Jianlian

NJ incoming:
6xth overall pick
Ricky Rubio

Why?
We get Rubio as the future at point, retain a high lotto pick, maybe draft a swing man and go for our power forward through free agency as originally planned. Shaves around 2 mill off the cap as well.

Minny moves up to get their man, whether that's Turner(if he's there) or Favors. They also bring in another young power forward that they have rumored to be high on. They also recieve a future pick, the value of which is debatable. They lose Rubio, but contrary to the facade Minny fans, front office and media like to put up, I don't think he has any interest in playing for the Wolves anyway.

GSW moves up to get their man at the cost of Anthony Randolph. They get a one year look at Yi, and even though their fans probably have no interest in him, their FO does.

Wes Johnson would be gone at 6, he'd be going to the Kings. That leaves what, Monroe?

He's flying up draft boards right now and for good reason, there are serious talks of him being the 2nd swing man off the boards, going before Al Farouq Aminu.

It's easy to say, "No we have to take the big risk on the massive talent, screw the safe pick!", but in all reality, most GM's will be like, "Fat chance!", and go with Favors.
(Yeah that's right, cheesy fat jokes and big puns intended.)

So I take it you are back again from the dark side?? lol...

Haha, yeah.
I'll probably flip flop a couple more times, especially if by some crazy chance Cousins gets himself into good shape by the workouts, but I've still been leaning towards Favors for about a month now.

BTW, I am not one of the guys that craps all over Rod for his drafting, I just think he could be substantially better at times. That said, in general, your breakdown does put it in perpsective, especially for the guys that are on the silly "Fire Thorn" train.

I don't know if you visit the "other" site, but there is a decent amount of anti-Rod sentiment over there, lead by the ring leader, one of the admins. I was one of the guys standing up for Rod, in a reasonable, level headed manner, but some of it's crazy over there, just hair brained logic and making stuff up to benefit arguments and what not. Just making the point that I have never been anti-Thorn and have mainly supported his moves, although there are times I would have done some vastly different things.

A mod who favors another team bashing our GM??? I can only assume its jelousy. Anf thus...the Nix board would be my guess?

I wouldnt get too hyped up about that. There were moves over the years that we had our hands tied. As you can see draft wise...done a very good job overall. I think if you look at other teams over the last decade you will see many who did a far worse job. Sure if you can find many nedle in the haystack late picks that is doing something exceptional. Missing out on many of them is not an indicator of a bad job in the late part of the draft...because again...needle in the haystyack. But there are Execs who blow high picks year after year AND fail to get good value at the spot they drafted.

If some doof rips Rod for selling picks...then he doesnt know why that was done. Or ripping for not signing SAR? Nonsense. GOOD MOVE in the end. I still rip HOW we did all of that...we really messed that up. Omart? Rod did the right thing letting him go and getting 3 number picks out of it and bascially converting it to Vince Carter. No brainer there.

He is an elite guy in this league. As for what we should have done different...doesnt mean we COULD have done it differently.

I was completely confused at where you were going here.

You posted OSCAR Robertson as some sort of comparison????? No you didnt just do that.

Then you post Curry to say what? That he isnt like him? Or look hey...he is like him??? I mean look at the combine numbers of both kids. Yes...they are remarkably similar. Not just weight.

And trying to say just looks big not fat or out of shape with the 12 highest body fat % ever tested? He was told to lose weight at 270 in HS. Added 26 pounds at Kentucky on TOP OF THAT!!!! That's the coach??????

And you cant compare different sports. Stop with the football mess already where you play half a game and rest between each play. This is a stamina and speed driven sport. You cant just be strong. You have tro be strong continuously. This kid had limitted minutes against boys in college. Against huge strong, fast, well trained men...the best athletes in any professional sport making light of all this is just not making much sense to me.

I respect the idea of post players being hard to find. But, it happens not to be this teams primary need anyway. And using the post conversation...that takes us back to Curry who was a terrifc post up talent. Was he a good ballplayer? No he was terrible. Deciding that Cousins will be a reboudning stud in the NBA based on college again...faulty premise. How is it a guy like a Shawn Marion or Gerald Wallace can be elite NBA rebounders over many wider taller guys? Not having good hops...good speed will matter in the pros. The guys vertical numbers also stink.

And as for Zach Randolph not nearly in as bad shape yet he was taken 20 spots down in the draft and you are arguing 3rd for this guy. How can you look at him and say..yeah I see NBA PF?????

This is a center. A half court, in the middle give me the ball center. He will need to lose 40-50 pouinds and tone up and develop his stamina to become more than that.

Both guys have bust potential...but yeah you take the raw chiseled clay. You take the Dwight Howard over the Eddy Curry. Hell, you take the Tyson Chandler over the Curry. If you ar wrong later...still easier to digest then banking on this type of guy this high in the draft.

First off...that trade idea is absurd. Minny wouldnt offer that. Next, I am against any trade at this stage where we give away cap room.

Most think Minny wouldnt give Rubio up straight up for the #2 or #3 pick.

I asked the question...Devin Harris for Rubio and many felt...nah Minny wouldnt do that.

Best draft talent we can get, and max out the cap space. That is the goal here.

Kevin Love is a serviceble player, but not willing to lose cap space for him even if this was a realistic or fair trade for Minny, which it wasnt.
