I like the way you are thinking, but despite what good about Diaw's rebounding, the numbers suggest he's subpar.

The cats are a good rebounding team, and Boris doesn't hurt them on the defensive end. They still rebound well with him there, though not any better than without him. This is likely because of his boxing out.
But on the offensive end it's a disaster. The cats go from well above average on that end when Diaw is off court, to being not very good at all. And Boris is grabbing a measely 5% of the available boards there. That is not very good at all for a PF.
The offensive rebounding is so bad that it pulls down the overall team rebounding figure (that includes both ends) by -2.5%, which is a large negative impact for one player.
