LOS ANGELES -- In honor of LeBron James and his apparent insistence on being talked about during the NBA Finals, we interrupt coverage to share some free agency news about the league's King of hype.

According to a source with first-hand knowledge of James' plans, the Larry King interview that was shot Tuesday and will air Friday on CNN was only the beginning of his elaborate scheme to draw unprecedented attention to his courting. James, according to the source, is in discussions with Nike to create a new shoe for every visit along his free agent path starting July 1. The shoes would have the date of the visit printed, with James already having scripted his itinerary for the Free Agency Tour 2010.

The source insists that he'll head for New York first to visit with the Knicks, and then spend time with the Nets. Chicago will be next, with the Bulls hoping he wants to follow in the footsteps of Michael Jordan and become the Windy City's beloved star. Depending on the level of sustained public interest and the discussions with the teams in the respective cities, James will decide at that point whether to continue on to Miami and possibly Los Angeles to see the Clippers.

I don't know if the source is accurate, but it makes us seem like one of his last options.

It can't be any other way if he wants to sell shoes to the bigger markets, he has to say, "maybe Miami", but being last is actually the good thing because you will have the last word.

Think about it, if a team such as Miami that has the most cap, has another superstar FA friend of his and a hall of fame coach/GM, waiting for a chance to at least speak to him about the possibilities, and I mean, just to have him listen to them, do you really think he won't at least
show them respect and at least talk for a few hours?

If anything, he means maybe the Heat will be out of reach because there's the real possibility that Miami will put a time limit to the top FAs and the first 2 will get the gig.

Funny thing I was reading from Knicks saying why would Bron want to play in Miami, if they don't have any fans. Funny Heat sold out everything in the Shaq era, everytime Bron comes to Miami, those games are pretty packed.
Lets take a look in the last 10 years of big name players in Miami.
Shaq, Wade, Zo, Hardaway, Payton, Lamar Odom,
Even Eddie Jones,Caron Butler,Antoine Walker, J Will probably had more pull than any of the garbage NY has put out in the last 10.
Oh yeah nothing can match NY's Starbury.

You got to hand it to that NY media, they have made NY fans believe, they have been the greatest team in sports.

Yea, some Chicago fans, and Knicks fans are ignorant. Anyone with half a brain would know that LeBron alone would get the AAA sol out of tickets. The AAA was packed 2005-2007 with Shaq's emergence, and Lebron is more hyped than Shaq.

David Stern: There will be no superstar summit come July 1st.......but there will be 41 summits at the AAA next season

Anywhere LeBron plays will be sold out. He could be in Memphis, and they'd have a full crowd every night. Hell, he could play on Mars, and I'm sure 18,000 martians would show up.

Hehehe.. Did you not get the memo. We get rid of Beasley, Cook. and Jones and we can pay all these guys max :). Not saying it will happen but there is no need for paycuts (unless they want a more well rounded team) without waiting till next summer to have mle.

This is the funniest part, because after every bullcrap rumor you read/hear this after words.

According to an NBA source close to the discussions. OK

In other words i have no credible source, but my publisher will pay me for this .

I said months ago that the best case scenario for each of them and for the league was if James, Wade and Bosh/Amare ended up together. The only teams that can sensibly do it without convincing two or three teams to do sign and trades are Miami and New York. Miami has the edge because one of them is already there, the area is a player's dream, and you have a championship coach in the wings (Riley). Miami would have to relinquish rights to all their free agents to make it fly. Shaq might sign for pennies to rejoin Miami, Wade, Riley and James. They would definitely need some charity signings from guys to surround themselves with decent players.

What would be most interesting is if the big three decided to sign for a mere pittance (say each signed 3 year $10 million deals or less so the Heat could pay for some good contributors or be able to retain some of their existing guys (like Haslem).

Well LeBron did say on Larry King that money isn't what he's looking for, he's looking to team up with someone else, first names came up were Bosh then Wade.

As crazy as this sounds it makes way more sense than LeBron going to Chicago. I never thought of this scenario, but it does make a lot of sense. These guys want championships, plural. This would be a way for all of them to help each other accomplish complete domination. No where else better to do this than South Beach.

LeBron is a very unselfish player on the court. I think he would play a more facilitator role and Wade/Bosh would be the scorers. LeBron at heart is not a pure scorer, he's more of super athletic Magic Johnson.

That said I would be very surprised if this went down.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

Maybe Riley did offer beasley to the Nets because he got inside info from Wade that these guys might sign with the Heat. Nothing is guaranteed in sports but a bosh Wade LBJ trio would win the championship no doubt.

I wish they would all sign for less than the max but its just not going to happen, some of these guys are all about money, and I think Lebrons ego is too big to except being paid a penny less than the max :(

I think Beas-Lebron-Wade could be a dynasty. I'd prefer Haywood + Beas over Bosh/Amare

Yeah Rose is a good player, but he's not a top-tier player and Lebron I think will player better with a PG more scoring oriented rather than pass oriented since Lebron is at his best when he's setting up plays for people.

And Noah? When did he become a talent that is marketable to play with? Haslem and Wade >>>> Noah and Rose

There is so many things wrong about this post it's not even funny. So Lebron won't go to Chicago because of the style of ball Rose plays, but will go to Miami to play woth an older version of Derrick Rose? Where's the logic in that? Nevermind there is a good chance within a year and a half Rose WILL surpass Wade on the hierarchy of NBA stars, but no LBJ doesn't want to play with a young talent like Rose who is only 21 years old. Right. You keep telling yourself that.

I don't know where LBJ will land, but there are two scenerios that won't happen: 1. He won't sign in NY. 2. There is no chance of LBJ and Bosh taking massive paycuts to play with Wade in Miami. Maybe one goes to Miami, more likely Bosh, but not both.

You say there's so many things wrong with HIS post. More like so many things wrong with YOUR post.

I can't believe you just called Wade an older version of Derrick Rose. Wow, I feel embarrassed for you.

And LOL @ Rose passing Wade within a year and a half.

I've never posted TWO C'mon Son's in a single post, but you certainly deserve it after those remarks.
