Bulls - Thunder Trade Idea

Post#1 » by xpmar9x » Sun Jun 6, 2010 6:24 am

Hello Thunder Fans, Bulls fan here - Quick Question -

The Bulls are obviously interested in drafting a SG. The only two notable SGs available during our pick (#17) is Xavier Henry & James Anderson. Both will probably be gone by #17.

If both players are off the boards and the Bulls look to trade down, would the Thunder be interested in this trade: #17 for #26 & #32?.

The Thunder could draft Daniel Orton at #17.
The Bulls could draft Dominique Jones and Craig Brackins/Gani Lawal.

I'd think about it. Although that high 2nd rounder is pretty valuable, a bit more than #26 IMO.

It is worth considering. It would give us a chance to secure Sanders, Alabi or Orton. Then we can get the best player available at 21.

I'd do it in a second if Orton is still on the board.

It depends on how the board falls.

I agree it depends on who is available. At the moment I'd say Paul George and Larry Sanders would be the biggest reasons to move up. At least to me.

Babbit, Orton, Whiteside, and Alabi would also be worth consideration.

I feel the Celtic and Heat are targeting Sanders and Alabi. That's why I'd likely do this trade.

I'm not sure there's enough difference in value between #17 and #26 in this draft to justify moving up. Seems pretty deep in mid to late first round talent. I'd prefer them just take the best three players available (shooters or big guys), but if there's someone that Sam Presti likes a lot who is available there he might do something like this.

I only think the Thunder so this trade if Daniel Orton is available, I don't think he makes it past #18 (Heat).

I think Orton would be perfect for the Thunder. He's a true big man, can play PF/C. AND he was born and raised in Oklahoma City!!!

Yes he is local. So is Udoh, and X. Henry.

I don't see Presti moving up for Orton unless he is 100% sold on Orton's game. Which can be questionable given the production that he's shown so far.

Then again, who else would know Orton better. I'm sure the Thunder was watching Orton when he was playing at Bishop McGuiness High School. They probably spoke to Orton several times within the last few years as well.

I see Orton, Sanders, and Alabi being available by the late teens. Miami and Boston are taking two out of that group. The third should fall to OKC. There could even be more bigs available if Whiteside slides a bit.

Presti is reported to be big on Orton. I'm not sure if that is fact or a smokescreen. Recently a rumor has been circulated that OKC is interested in using their 26th for Pleiss. If that is true this trade scenario is dead.
