Tigers cut Everett; call up SS Worth

Post#1 » by kellmellus50 » Mon Jun 7, 2010 12:22 am

Everett hit .185 this season with no homers and four RBIs in 81 at-bats. Leyland said the move was based solely on how Everett has hit this season and wasn't based on the strong impression Worth made in his recent stint with the team.

It's been coming for awhile. Leyland also told Laird that Avila would be catching for awhile. Porbably to gauge his bat. If Avila really picks it up and keeps it up, Laird could back him up or get designated himself.

Looks like the Tigers are tired of the bottom of the order doing absolutely nothing.

It was definitely time. Everett is great defensively and a really good guy...but the dude cannot hit. at all. I mean .185? Worth is also really good on the defensive end from what i understand and he is at least young.

The right move, for sure. I wouldn't be sad to see Laird go either

I am sure the tigers know they are not going to win it all unless they get better hitting on their team .Which means they will be on the look-out for a better hitting catcher ,either by trade or farm.
