Re: Baron Davis
If he's coming to the Pacers, it means the Pacers are adding the 8th pick to the 10th pick on our roster as well.
He's not getting expirings, Rush, and the 10th as this joker suggests. It's taking either Eric Gordon or the 8th to dump him.
Hell it might even cost a deal of Davis/Blake Griffin for Murphy/Hansbrough. He's owed so much money and he's worth so little on the open market.

Re: Baron Davis
Didn't bother to read of any of these articles. He is way too overpaid, is getting old fast, is injury prone, and acquiring him would go against pretty much everything we have done to this point in the rebuilding process.

Re: Baron Davis
WOW. No way this guy is a Clips fan, right? I mean, he has them giving away a guy who has flopped in LA and is a decent player at best for nothing but a decent PG with an expiring contract, a young role player, and a lotto pick. The greatest part is that he has a huge long-term contract that we can eat so we don't have to worry about him leaving and stealing money from another team! The only thing that surprises me is that this joker didn't throw in the idea that, while we trade the 10th, this trade almost guarantees us 3-4 years of high picks. I don't do the deal to move up 2 spots in the draft, either. Davis/Griffin is interesting, but Davis is trouble waiting to happen and Blake hasn't shown anything but durability issues yet. Not saying it's a horrible deal, just that it's a high risk/high reward move. That's an awful lot of cap space to give away.

Re: Baron Davis
Read your link, and stopped after this sentence, "Davis would fit right into the Pacers offensive system. He is a point guard that likes to score and that's what I think Indiana needs.
I don't care what this guy thinks. I want facts.

If we get the pick and Eric Gordon we have to pull the trigger here. Again, it's not like we aren't used to bad contracts, with Baron he can at least play up to his.

We wouldn't get the pick and Eric Gordon. It would have to be one or the other, but not both. LAC will hold onto BDiddy if that is the price to unload him.

where's that Zak Randolph quote when you need it? we don't need to be roasting marsh-mellows.

Either or, if you get Gordon that's a better player than you could have in Rush or Henry. If you get the pick you can draft Udoh/Patterson AND get Henry.

Que?
What IF we did get Gordon and the pick....
Of course, it is all speculative...until the draft...and then free agency

If we got offered Davis, Gordon, and the pick for Ford, Rush, and Murphy we better pulled the trigger fast.

Absolutely! No way I take Baron Davis and give them the #10. Davis for Ford and Rush adds about $2.5 million to our payroll in 2010, since we are over the tax threashold that costs us double. Deal looks more like Davis and the #8 for Ford and Foster and the #40.
My question is why do we want the #8? And why do we want Baron?

What do you mean? Why wouldn't we want the #8? Especially if we still have the #10. That way we can go big/small w/ Udoh/Patterson and Henry, we also get a PG to go w/ Danny and Roy and will probably be enough to push us into the playoffs. Creates excitement that the team just nabbed a good player. If you're worried about money, throw in Murphy and see if you can nab Gordon to start at SG. That's a hometown guy who would get the fans excited to have playing in Indiana again. That's a great starting 5, especially in the east....
PG: Baron Davis
SG: Eric Gordon
SF: Danny Granger
PF: Tyler/Udoh/Patterson
C: Roy Hibbert
With a 2nd unit of Price, Dunleavy, Henry, that's solid for sure, I'd finally be excited about the team.

Re: Baron Davis
Only way I woul dpull this trigger:
Pacers send-
TJ Ford (He is a lame duck in a Pacer uniform)
Rush (the real bargaining chip in this deal)
#10 Pick
Clippers return-
Baron Davis (This replacement instead of Ford is got to be better. 4 year deal; however, allows us to trade yet this year for a young underdeveloped PG to have Davis mentor or Draft one in the next two years with the same strategy. Davis may be a 6th man or minior minutes guy in the 3rd and 4th year before retirement)
Gordon (This is the real deal. Definitely, NO drop off as a Rush replacement. Indy kid; have him retire here with his jersry in the rafters. No need to get a 2 guard in the draft or trades for many years. Dunleavy backs him up, he needs the reduced minutes anyway and should be able to play against competition's second string every night)
#8 Pick- Moving up 2 slots gives is the opportunity to catch someone that may slip. Here is where we get our BIG PF. Greg Monroe or Patrick Patterson could be here. It's the break we needed.
Send this to Bird and Morway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Baron Davis
That's probably somewhat realistic. If you think that Gordon is a long-term answer at the SG position both offensively and defensively (which he likely is) and that he's a great fit next to Danny (which he likely would be) that's a pretty solid deal to make. Yeah, a ton of salary on Baron Davis, but eh. Either way, it's only two more years than TJ Ford, and that's worth Eric Gordon, and a nominal move up in the draft to make sure you get one of the top 8 talents.
Although, it does add almost $6 million in salary to the books this next year. We'd likely have to include Jeff Foster and the #40 for a future protected 1st rounder as well, to make sense financially and value-wise.

My question is do we want the #8 enough to take on all that salary of Davis and his injury proneness. Now if the deal was TJ, Foster, Rush for Davis, Gordon and #8 I'd probably have to do it.
