Izzo accepted without knowing if Lebron is staying? if yes, wow

Lebron is not gonna be impressed by some college coach whose ability to coach in the NBA is a complete unknown.

You would have to think Izzo ain't signing that until Lebron signs a contract first. Otherwise he's left with an average at best team.

Izzo will go to the NBA due to the money and the challenge.

My personal opinion is that he is going to fail massively, just like his predessors. The NCAA and the NBA are completely different animals.

LBJ does not give a damn about Izzo and his colllege accomplishments. If LBJ goes to college, he would win a NCAA championship ring for every season that he is in college.

He's not just some college coach.

And, IIRC, there were some LeBron/Izzo connections (tho not quite like the friendship with Calipari) too, weren't there? Maybe going back to Bron being recruited?

Izzo would be a hell of a hire for Cleveland - and is a definite upgrade over Mike Brown.

I have to believe that if Izzo does got to Cavs he will be given more power over personnel and whatnot than Brown had.

I don't think this really factors into Lebron's decision either.. As long as it's not Phil Jackson, Greg Popovich, or Jerry Sloan Lebron won't be swayed by this (potential) hire.

There is no chance of Izzo going to Cleveland. Why would he leave MSU for Cleveland? Lakers, perhaps. Spurs, definately. Maybe eve, but Cleveland? No way. Just like Coach K at Duke, it would have to be the near perfect situation to get Izzo out of MSU, and Cleveland is far, far from a perfect situation. This is a desparate attempt by Gilbert to try to get a good coach, cause he knows all the legitimately good NBA coaches are already taken, or won't leave the booths, and the Bulls just took the hottest name in the assistant ranks off the market.

This reeks of desparations by Gilbert, imo.

The Cavaliers are making a hard push for Tom Izzo as their next coach. That much is clear. The question is how hard.

The Northern Ohio News-Herald is reporting that an offer has been made to Izzo to become the next head coach of the Cavs as they seek to keep LeBron James, a curious choice. Adrian Wojnarowski is citing sources that refute a contract has been offered.

Gonna be a ton of rumors flying around right up to the F.A. peroid. Not sure that Izzo, if going to Cle, makes a difference in Lebron signing..but Cleveland could do much worse in their coaching search.

LBJ goes on record, saying that he does not want his fingerprint on the next Cavs coach.

These recent moves and rumors from the Cavs front are just desperation moves or attempt by a wanna be GM who wants to keep LBJ in Cleveland. A LBJ departure will cut Gilbert net value by at least 20%. Of course, he is going to sell his soul to keep his mansion, trophy wives, brothels in Asia, etc...

Yeah, all these recent moves are just the Cavs last chance of trying to get Lebron to stay. I feel they know he is already long gone

The Cavs don't agree that Lebron is "gone" yet so it seems. I was wondering what the counter move was going to be. And if the Cavs knew what Lebron was going to do. Now we know, they think they are in the ballgame. Its nerve jangling. This news brings into play the possibility that WWW was prodding the Cavs to get something done over there.

BUT, if the Cavs signed and traded Lebron for something decent or very good, they would theoretically have a good team that needs a good coach. So hope its just that. Then again, somebody like the Mavs could be in play for Lebron in S&Ts, so........bad news this. I don't know why Izzo would choose just a good but not a serious contending team to coach though.

Why would LBJ agree to a S/T? He isn't like the other bums in FA.

If he wins a NBA championship, the increased money that he will make from endorsement in America and abroad will be twice the amount of the max.

Finally, LBJ already has the keys to the Cavs. He can do whatever he wants there. There is no need for Wesley to use the Bulls as leverage. That is just bs from naysayers.

Izzo has no impact on LBJ's decision. He isn't Pop or Phil Jackson. In LBJ's mind, Izzo is probably just another overrated bum from the college rank -- the same class as Rick Pitino, Pink Floyd, Carlesimo, Carlipari, etc...

maybe, maybe not. Izzo did try to recruit James out of high-school. It's possible that Lebron actually really likes the guy, only LBJ knows for sure.

He went on record? I haven't seen any quotes. I've seen the reports, but no direct quotes.

Return to Chicago Bulls
