The video goes to a piece about a scientist wanting to "re-tortoise" the galapagos islands. Are you mad because he's getting rid of turtles through ethnic cleansing?

Is this what passes for fun in high schools nowadays wtf?! I'm only 23, but I feel like my generation is soo far and away disconeccted from what kids are doing today. Christ, the most dangerous thing we did as kids was beer pong. Now we got kids throwing gasoline on people and setting them on fire. What is going on with the youth?

Okay, I think I'm going to finally break down and by a decent gas grill. My dad raised me on charcoal and that's what I have now. But I need something that I can use weeknights that doesn't take a lot of prep time/work. I'm looking at this Weber:

Thoughts?

It got Cooks' Illustrated's highest recommendation. Here's what they have to say:

Weber Spirit

A strong performer from Weber and just the right price. Front-to-back two-burner configuration allowed varying heat levels over the 350 square inches of cooking surface. Chicken thighs and steaks developed good crust when seared, and thick eggplant planks browned evenly over every point on the grill. Extra features include a built-in thermometer and attached side table. If you need more cooking surface, and have a little more money to spend, we also recommend the three-burner Weber Spirit E-310 ($498). Aced steak, chicken, eggplant, turkey, and salmon tests.

That reminds me of the Jackass episode where (I think) Johnny Knoxville drives into a service station with blood all over the hood and windshield and grill and asks the attendant if he has any water and paper towels.

the thing with gas which I have used for years is that you can always
use wood chips, mesquite or hickory to get your smokey flavor.

Update: Might replace my washer/dryer instead of getting a grill. I could make a nice outdoor food preparation station an extension of the kitchen remodel I'm planning for 2011. Then I'll have everything I need both inside and outside to really get serious. I'll keep practicing on my charcoal grill for another summer, and maybe take some cooking classes too. Found this spot that has recreational cooking classes in Bethesda:

OK. I will find out by the end of tonight, but would anyone be interested in going to the Nats game with me tomorrow? I purchased two tickets and it's in a Party Suite. If my guy isn't able to come through and go, would anyone here be interested? It's Strasburg's MLB debut so the place will be pretty much be sold out. 42,000+ people, as well as standing room seating. It's going to be a mad house.

It turns out the vodka bottle was an airplane vodka bottle. I don't know about everyone else, but I was picturing a 1.75 L absolute bottle when I saw the headline.

Serious in the kitchen? I like it. But to improve your cooking all you really need is a few basic tools, a good cookbook, and lots of patience.

The kitchen is where I'll put all my energy into once I get real accomodations. The problem for me is my future will involve me constantly moving to different apartments, so remodeling the room itself won't be possible. Instead I'm focusing on the tools, particularly kitchen knife related equipment. These, plus two matching chinese-style chef knives, will be the final collection:

I also a couple waterstones and "the best honing rod ever" to keep them sharp. Using a waterstone is very zen...
