According to reports, his time in Miami may be winding down. He's a knuckle head but has a lot of talent. In Memphis, he can be kept in check by Coach Hollins and learn from Z-Bo. Let him play off the bench for a year and then he can become the team's full time starter the year after.

Thoughts on acquiring him and at what cost? I'm thinking Darrell Arthur + #12 would be fair. Or even expand the deal to a sign and trade involving Rudy this summer.

I've been lobbying for Beasley ever since he was drafted. He has an immense amount of talent and if he can put it all together he will be a star IMO. I think that if this organization can make Zach Randolph into a model citizen, they can shape Beasley up. I could think of a few potential deals:

1) #12/Young for Beasley/Jones
2) Z-Bo for Beasley/Jones if Miami can't get their hands on one of the star bigs this summer
3) If Miami is willing to give Rudy an offer that is too hefty to match, then sign-and-trade Gay for Beasley
4) Thabeet for Beasley

I'd prefer the 1st option. It would give us significant flexibility. Beasley could come off the bench this year behind Gay and Randolph, and potentially take over for Randolph if he wants too big of an extension after next year. Or, we could start Beasley and flip Z-Bo and his extremely productive expiring contract, along with other assets, for a superstar. I still think consolidating assets and turning them into a superstar is essential if we are ever going to go further than the second round in the playoffs.

I"m tired of guys that are super talented but mentally weak(Conley).
Article also said the offers Miami was getting were garbage, I'd give them 25+28+Haddadi because his game and attitude is best suited for the bench, he's a 6th man at best

He would be great in this team as a 6th man but I only if we could get him for some draft picks and haddadi or smth

The point of that article is that miami wants to clear his salary off the books.

That means Miami will trade him to a team with cap space just for draft picks. They dont want a player back.

Sounds like Memphis can get him for future picks if it wishes.

I think memphis would be dumb not to jump on this if we can get him for just picks.

You could throw all three of the Grizzlies picks at Miami and they wouldn't trade Beasley to Memphis. It's not good value at all for the Heat plus they already have enough draft picks. Miami needs to show Wade they are serious about winning now and not stockpiling draft prospects in a rebuilding program. They have cap space and will try for experience to win next year.

This is a nice idea but it isn't reasonable.

Miami Heat fan here

What would you guys say to a deal something like this?

Heat get: Chris Bosh

Toronto gets: Rudy Gay

Memphis gets: Michael Beasley

now that is the base of the trade and of course other peices are going to have to be added but would you guys oppose?

I don't think it would happen either but it would save a fair bit of money that could be used to re-sign Gasol and Randolph, both of who will be free agents next summer.

Beasley > Gay talent wise. If Beasley was the first option on a team he would be scary good. Beasley playing behind Randolph will not work, instead if beas comes to Memphis the team should start building around him and Mayo.
