This opens up two basketball slots, and theoretically two football slots. Who does the big east fill them with?

Temple? Big Philly market... Memphis? Huge basketball school, nba arena, lousy football team, big pockets donor corporation ... EC WHO? Another Carolina Team, rabbid fan base, CUSA champ two years running, New FB Coach, basketball team any good? ... Navy? It's Navy, enough said.

What does UCF offer over these guys?

- Third largest student body
- New Facilities
- Access to recruiting in Florida
- Decent size TV Market

ND isn't likely going anywhere.

The Big 12 evacuation could begin a fireball though.

The new Pac 16 would come equipped with their own network.

Personally, I think the conferences will be too big and too far apart geographically to maintain the feel and rivalry of what conferences bring to the table.

But then again, MONEY TALKS.

The losers, could be the Big 12 and Big East for obvious reasons.

The question though is what happens to the SEC and ACC if the other two conferences expand so large.......the SEC "says" it won't expand......but I'd expect them to go after at least couple of ACC schools (Ga Tech, FSU, UM, Clemson, and/or possibly UNC).

It's "how" the dominoes begin to fall.......

Here's to hoping NOTHING happens at all, as I don't think ANYTHING is improved once the dust settles. Bigger isn't always better......except for tv money.

My guess is all this expansion talk could be bad for both USF and UCF.

The Big Ten and Pac-10 aren't going to be adding either of us so we'd have to hope for the ACC/SEC expanding. If the Big East loses more than 2 teams it's done as a BCS conference so inviting UCF will be akin to being in C-USA still.

UCF has to be the BEast's first choice though.

Unless the Big East became even less geographical.

Unattached would be Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Baylor. Somebody will want Kansas for sure.

It's all but official that Nebraska will go to the Big 10.

Great move for for the Huskers and the Big 10.

No word on Mizzou, ND, Rutgers.

Looks like the Pac 10 is about to get VERY big. Not liking this one.

Other news.......USC is rumored to be getting probation, loss of scollies, AND possibly no bowling for one, maybe two seasons.....along with vacating W's for probably two seasons including their national championship year.

We'll see tomorrow if the rumors are true.

The dominoes are falling, let's see what happens...

So far it's all but confirmed that Nebraska has accepted a Big Ten invite and that Colorado has now accepted the Pac 10 invite.

Regarding no work on Missou, ND, or Rutgers. Apparently an ultimatum had been made by the Big 12 for Missouri, Nebraska, and one one other school (Colorado?) to declare it's allegiance to the conference by July 15 "or else." Funny thing is, I was listening on ESPN and one source noted Missouri is willing to crawl through across glass to get an invite to the Big Ten. So, I expect them to be gone too when the dust settles.

We've lost Jordan Akins. He got drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 3rd round. He may come play football if things don't work out in the minors. Probably the recruit I was most excited about. Damn.

Well.. I hadn't renewed my tickets for ucf and thank god they don't have my new number to call constantly. So they sent me an email.. Here's the body (notice what I bold).

Thank you for your generous support of UCF athletics throughout the past few years. I was looking over your account and wanted to contact you regarding a great 2010 football campaign we have ahead of us. A strong recruiting class should be very advantageous as we look to move into the Big East Conference. I would love to discuss some fantastic opportunities we have for you that include season tickets for just $130.

Rumors are all over the place.

In a switch up, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech may be SEC bound along with Oklahoma petitioning the SEC. They'll need to find a dancing partner though (Kansas).

Another rumor has Texas and Texas A&M heading to the Big 10.

The Big 10 may not be stopping at 14 either.....

Again all rumors, but damn this is crazy.

Texas and Texas A&M have formally applied to the Big 10.

Big 10 is still sitting idle, waiting for a ND final response.

If ND accepts the Big 10 invite, A&M will likely bolt for the SEC.

Its good to be reading how CUSA is trying to pick up the left over teams from the big 12... they would be great additions to the league.

Looks like the fed-ex ceo (who has a son as a qb on Memphis) is offering 10 mil a year sponsorship to the conference who takes Memphis into the bcs. It's too bad we don't have a big donor

Well they canceled their sponsorship of the Orange Bowl so the money that normally would have been spent is available. I hate citing a news story without a link, but I saw it previously. Basically he's pitching to put that money back into sponsorships for fed-ex in return for Memphis playing in the conference. A bit unfair to the rest of us, but a good chip for them to have.

so UCF just got Shipman to transfer from UF...but he's coming to play football as a safety. At first I'm thinking, "well this isn't that significant seeing as how this guy hasn't played football since freshman year of HS", then I heard that he was considered one of the best football players in the state as a freshman and a likely future NFL player, and he's 6'5" and an athletic beast.

So optimism there, but honestly I'm having trouble buying into him being able to jump sports after not playing football competitively for years.

ESPN has just reported that Texas will STAY in the Big 12, thereby not killing the conference.

Thank goodness, as NCAA football was in the midst of making a horrible turn.

I doubt that the raiding is done, but this is a good start for teams NOT to damage the "golden goose" (tradition, rivalry, geographical identity).

Texas with a ton of bargaining power as the Big 12 did just enough.

Could be interesting to see if they turn around and add schools. The big twelve surviving is a good thing from the way I look at it. I'm hoping they take Memphis and a big east or acc school. Openning a possible spot for the knights to move up.

No BE school makes sense for the Big XII geographically.

And, I'd run around my office naked if you got invited to the ACC with FSU and Miami in the conference.
