PLEASE, DON'T TRADE TONY TO NY!!!
I am 100% against trading Tony Parker at all but it would be a travesty to trade him to New York with the unbelievable lack of talent there is throughout their roster. If you ask their fans, Danilo Gallinari is actually Dirk Nowitzki, Wilson Chandler is on the verge of becoming Scottie Pippen and Toney Douglas is the next Chauncey Billups. But most of all, please, don't even discuss a trade for David Lee. He is a complete loser, doesn't play an ounce of defense and is also a whiner and a stat-padder. I don't care about the praises he's gotten, he is the last player in the NBA I'd like to see in a Spur uniform. I realize I might have to deal with a Tony trade this summer but I know for sure I won't be able to overcome a trade of Tony for David Lee, this would completely destroy me.

Re: PLEASE, DON'T TRADE TONY TO NY!!!
There is just something about New York that makes the rest of the country hate us that much more than everywhere else. Fact is, nearly every Knicks fan would disagree with what you just said. Gallo has the potential and a similar game to develop into a Dirk type guy (he's only 20), Wilson Chandler is not Scottie Pippen but he has a variety of skills that could translate into a great NBA player if he matures more and grows a killer instinct. Tony Douglas isn't CHauncy Billups, but he can defend very well, shoot the ball, and pass. So say if a deal came along that was something along the lines of Wilson CHandler or David Lee, Toney Douglas, and two 2nd round picks for Parker and fillers, and Spurs management is serious about trading him, than don't be surprised if Tony Parker is a Knick.

Re: PLEASE, DON'T TRADE TONY TO NY!!!
Like I needed a proof for my words... Half an hour after I open the thread a Knicks fan convincing us that Danilo IS Dirk Nowitzki, Toney Douglas is like the 2nd coming of Chauncey Billups (defends well, shoots the ball, passes) and Chandler is the complete package (great NBA player... killer instinct). Now I expect a Knicks fan coming and telling us how David Lee had to win the MVP and they will actually be doing us a favor by letting us get him for Tony Parker...

Okay and you have given me 100% proof that your a complete try hard with your very own empty pointless mission to call out a Knicks fan while clearly not digesting anything I wrote correctly, but twisting it into your own personal agenda. Thank you Batmana, I now know that you are a complete unintelligent person who cannot and will not give any valid basketball input. Good bye and SMD buddy, your not worthy.

Re: PLEASE, DON'T TRADE TONY TO NY!!!
You're entitled to your opinion and I guess I can't and won't be trying to change it. At least I don't go advertising half-decent players (which we have on the roster) like the rest of the fans don't know what they're dealing with. I believe I have seen enough Knicks games to know their record is fitting for the amount (lack) of talent they have. And unlike you, I don't feel I can discuss a man's intelligence over a short paragraph... And is it really the point to make it personal? And the profanity? Talks more about your intelligence than mine... Anyway, the others deserve better than our jabs at each other here, plus that was not the point. And this is a Spurs fans forum so I am more interested in their opinion, I am pretty familiar with the Knicks fans opinion (like when they tried to convince us we REALLY need Jared Jeffries and he is a good player). I don't have a grudge for your franchise, I just don't feel we can give away one third of our franchise for anything you can offer.

Re: PLEASE, DON'T TRADE TONY TO NY!!!
hey batmana, I'm a knicks fan and I just read something interesting from a spurs fan
Lynminh said "I heard LeBron is tired of playing is such a big market like Cleveland and wants to go somewhere he can get a little privacy.
It will have to be one of those "Sign and Trade" thingies since we don't have enough room under the cap.
Picks + RJ + Rasho should get it done.
We might have to swap 2nd round picks this year to make it fair though."
So after reading that, I'm gonna make the generalisation that ALL spurs fans are delusional and ALL spurs fans overrate their players. Never mind that Lyminh probably wasn't being serious, I'm still gonna make a huge generalisation and say that all spurs fans are stupid.
I mean seriously, david lee is an all star, has improved his game every year, averaged 20-12, and not a single big man in the league would have been able to do much more with this knick team. David lee also has had no injury past, tony parker has. Lee is also younger, and the spurs at least have another point guard (george hill) who pop seems to want to start. I'm just saying that looking at it objectively, a trade involving david lee and tony parker (along with other pieces in the trade of course) would not be out of the question.

Re: PLEASE, DON'T TRADE TONY TO NY!!!
I will definitely agree on that.
If Parker is to be moved, any team who takes him has to be pretty confident about keeping him after his contract. So that's why trading Parker to small market teams like Sacramento or whatever doesn't really make sense because it's just hard to imagine Parker staying there.
With that in mind, New York is a team that I think Parker will want to stay on because it gives him the chance to be a star and in a big market. The options will be limited and New York can give us good value. We need a big if Splitter don't come. David Lee can be that guy. We need a SF. Chandler can be included.
There are trade scenarios that make sense if we ever go down that route. I don't think a Parker trade to any team will make us better simply because I don't think George Hill is ready and it'll leave us with no PG on this team (Hill a combo).

Re: PLEASE, DON'T TRADE TONY TO NY!!!
That LeBron sign-and-trade thread is a joke and you know it, after all every team is entitled to their share of dreaming. And it isn't like anyone posted anything serious in it. For crying out loud, Rasho is not even a Spur right now
As for the Tony-for-Lee trade, I just don't like what Lee brings to our team, as I said he is probably the last player I wanna see in a Spurs uniform. His numbers look great but what he actually brings to the table does not, IMO. I will reiterate the most important aspect - zero defense, zero desire to play defense. I think that says it all.

I get it was joke, maybe you should read what I posted again. I was trying to prove to you how stupid it is to take what one knick fan says and then make a generalisation about all knick fans.
Parker is not much of a defender either and a guy like lee will help duncan extend his career. Lee is one of the best passing big men in the league, one of the best rebounders in the league, and every year has added a new part to his game. How many guys in their mid 20s turn up one season out of no where and start hitting 15-18 footers consistently? He's an all star. Sure he doesnt play much defense, that has a lot to do with the fact that he's 6'9 defend centers and because he has carry the whole knick team on his back offensively. Boozer, dirk and amare aren't that much better defensively. I guarantee you if lee had steve nash or deron williams he would make it deep into the playoffs every year.
Knicks.

Re: PLEASE, DON'T TRADE TONY TO NY!!!
For the sake of the argument, we have all seen Lee play and know his strengths. IMO they are far outweighed by what he doesn't do which makes him, I think, a poor fit and a player I don't wanna see in a Spurs uniform. BTW, I have read threads full of Knicks fans praising Gallo and Chandler like they're surefire all stars. After all, when I started this thread I didn't expect a Knick fan coming here and proving my point in less than an hour, yet that's just what happened. Maybe if it didn't happen you could say I was throwing empty statements but that's not the case. As for Gallo and Chandler's all-star qualities, if all those threads I read were humorous, then I probably don't have a good enough sense of humor

Re: PLEASE, DON'T TRADE TONY TO NY!!!
I'm not that critical of David Lee.
I don't know what you mean by his strengths are far outweighed by his weaknesses. I don't see that at all.
In defense of Lee, he is played out of position guarding Centers and in a system that does not value defense much. Add that he's being asked to carry quite a scoring load, it's understandable. I do think that in a right defensive system and playing his natural position will help his defense a lot. Perhaps it won't turn him into a great defensive player, but being decent to good it's not out of possibility. That's just about the only bad thing Lee does.
His strengths? We can use his size. His rebounding. His passing. His midrange shooting. Even his age because it allows him to play more minutes than any of our current players.
I don't see how his weaknesses outweigh his strengths.
As far as Chandler and Gallo, they have all-star potential. I'll give him that. They're both talented players and that's perhaps why they're so high on them. But I will put it this way. We overrate George Hill a whole lot. I think Gallo and Chandler has better chances on being an All-star than George Hill.

Fact is that we will not even get 60 cents on the dollar with trading TOny. He is worth more to us than any other team.

I find it funny that you think knick fans overrate their players and then you think that a trade involving parker and lee is out of the question. You don't get that by making fun of knick fans doing that you are really ridiculing yourself because your doing the exact same thing for spurs players.
And of all the knicks forums I've been to I have NEVER heard anyone say chandler is a surefire all star or even gallo is a surefire all star. All people say is that Gallo at 21 shows a lot of good skills and has the POTENTIAL to be be an all star, and Chandler has a lot of versatility and is a good defender. Should I make a generalisation and say that I think all spurs fans are huge exaggeraters??

If Parker is traded to the Knicks it will probably be a three way deal with a team that doesn't need a PG (think New Orleans or Minnesota) or which wouldn't be able to resign him after the year.
A good example is Toronto. Bosh might go to SA for Parker (and some of the non guaranteed contracts for cap purposes) with Knicks sending them Lee and possibly Chandler (if they agree to also take Curry). New Orleans might take Curry (to get out of Okafor's contract, particularly if they draft Aldrich) and Chandler, as they can use SG/SF. Minn could make a similar trade if of Al Jefferson if they draft Cousins.
