-Large expiring contracts coming our way

If LeBron leaves, we need to suck for 3-5 years in order to get all the young talent we can. Like OKC.

Considering all my wishes, I honestly think Dallas can offer the best package.

Dampier ($13 mill expiring- not guaranteed)
Butler ($10.5 mill expiring)
Stevenson ($4 mill expiring- please buy him out before he ever puts on a Cavs uniform)
Beaubois
1st and 2nd Round Picks- now and future
Rights to all Dallas players overseas

for

LeBron
Jamison

i've gone back and forth on trading lebron or not, but if we do, this is the proposal i want with boobie thrown in as well. i don't even need to see butler in a cavs uni...just buy him out as well. like you said we need to adopt the okc formula and suck for two-three years and build back up this team. also would look to see mo and varejao traded for expirings

I like stated, it's easier said then done. This may sound good because you like the idea of landing another SS like Lebron or Durant instead of getting a star in Smith and not being contenders, or getting close but no cigar but this doesn't usually work. There are a bunch of teams that rebuild and they still suck much less Cleveland where no one wants to play at (MIL, CLE, TOR, MIN). As parson said, the Hawks went through this and it was awful, no reason to watch, rarely had any luck with the lottery or made the wrong decision. Drafts like Oden, Horford, and Durant just don't come around that often. If they did, everyone would be a good NBA team and some could be great.

As stated, the Dallas SnT is a death sentence that may seem good since you won 62 games and could taste the title in 10, but believe me, 17-30 wins isn't fun to watch. In fact, go to Minnesota forum. They still are hurting and are pissed that a sure fire SG has slipped their hands because of the lottery. Most drafts aren't even that good, so even if you win the lottery, you could end up with Marvin Williams or Kwame Brown rather than Lebron James or Kobe Bryant more than not.

i want nothing to do with an atlanta s/t unless horford and a bunch of expirings are coming back this way. josh smith puts us on the treadmill of mediocrity for some time

Horford would work but then we probably couldn't take both Williams and Jamison -- because Horford makes $6million less than Smoove. And, in order to take on one of your bad contracts (Jamison or Williams), we'd have to send more than expirings, but almost all of them would be 2 years in length (excepting Marvin Williams and Bibby). Your roster is loaded with mostly 2 year deal, anyways, so they'd fit in.

But, of course, we'd send Horford. I just thought you'd prefer Smoove because you'll be worse with him for a couple of years -- he is lost without a PG to feed him. With Horford, you'll probably remain a playoff team (albeit a poor one).

looking at it...lebron for horford, crawford, teague, 2 first rounders would be the only s/t deal with the hawks. we'd have to look for other alternatives in getting rid of jamison and mo

Let's take a slight step back into reality:

1) Joe Johnson has burnt his bridge in ATL and is 100% gone. He won't even agree to a S&T.

2) Without JJ the Hawks have 3-4 guys worth something in the future: Josh Smith, Horford, Marvin Williams, Crawford

3) The Nets have the most young talent on the smallest contracts at this point with the most picks in the NBA over the next 3 drafts

4) Lebron is going to choose where he goes whether it is in a Sign and Trade or straight up Free Agent signing

5) Free Agents like Wade and Lebron figure to be able to sign a big contract after the 5th or 6th year so they don't really care about signing a deal for almost $30 less since they can make that up in the next deal regardless

With all of that in mind ATL does not seem as tempting to them. Although you admit that Lebron won't have any interest in flat out signing in ATL - he won't go there in a S&T either when he can go to the other teams he is looking into.

Why is it so hard for some people to realize that Cleveland will not S&T LeBron? No one is trying to offend you, get over yourself.

Please re-read this thread. I didn't get offended but I'm afraid I offended heathmalc by suggesting all this.

1. LOL? Yes, because him getting pissy over the fans not showing up means he wants to lose anywhere from $5-30 million, right?

4. LeBron does NOT have free reign to go where he wants. Cleveland might very well tell him to shove it where the sun don't shine, and boom, he's not going to any team that can't absorb him below the cap.

5. LeBron CAN'T flat out sign in ATL, they're over cap.
