Fair enough. But you asked if it was stupid, and I said yes. I still think it is.

i enjoy hearing izzo isnt a package deal with bron. i do not enjoy hearing NYK mentioned more. these are my feelings on the last 24 hrs. I'm sure in another 48 there will be three new issues to comment on. This is going to be a slow march of an offseason.

Exactly.

Then you throw in the fact that if Cleveland couldn't win with Mike Brown, who was a disiciple of Greg Poppovich in San Antonio, I highly doubt Tom Izzo will be that missing piece. In fact Cleveland=what the Knicks woud look like if they got James. A bunch of high price, but so low talent that surrounds James. In fact, I will say it, the roster will play a bigger role in James decision then the coach.

That is not what the article says. It says, "According to the latest version of Izzo's deal, he has to pay the school $500,000 within 30 days of terminating his employment if he takes another job. "

Nowhere in the article does it say that he's in the process of freeing up that money for a buyout.

Second player that has said something like this now. If a guy has to change his coaching style, then are you really getting the coach you are paying for?

Milwaukee guard Charlie Bell said Izzo may have to work on his intensity.

"I've heard he's not as hard on guys as he used to be," Bell said. "He'd have to tone it down even more in the pros."

LeBron James has not given Izzo any indication of his future plans but has let the Cavs' organization know that he is interested in a coach that has played in the NBA.

Played in the NBA or Coached? Seems like they could have mixed that up.

As soon as I heard the name Mo Cheeks involved with the Bulls, i felt like his candidacy had come purely out of a Lebron suggestion through the back channels.

Well then - we're out.

It was fun while it lasted.

Its a testament to just how great Tim Duncan is, what with all of the success he has had even though he plays for a coach who never played in the NBA.

Then again, does this even mean anything? Were that a major sticking point, that rules out Chicago, Cleveland, and NY (if you consider the fact D'Antoni wasnt an NBA player very long)

This report is highly suspect. LeBron has given every indication that he wants no part in helping the Cavs in their coaching search. Also, Gilbert has repeatedly said in the media that LeBron has had no part in the coaching search whatsoever. So why would news of LeBron supposedly telling the Cavs that he wanted a coach with experience of playing in the NBA suddenly come out?

I don't know whats the big deal. All it says he would be interested in playing for a coach who used to be a player. Not "I want this guy I want that guy"
