Retire Role Players' Jerseys?

Generally retiring a player's # is reserved for the cream of the crop. Thus retiring role players' #s = lowering standards.

So, are we lowering our standards by having number 2 in the rafters?

Yes.

Notice that the Vikings didn't retire Stringer's #, but honored him in a lesser way.

I don't know, I think when an important player dies on the practice/game field you should probably retire his number. I mean, it's the least you could do.

Ray Allen's jersey could be retired by all 3 of his teams, but I'm sure there are plenty of great players who don't have their jersery retired by anyone.
