So, are we lowering our standards by having number 2 in the rafters?

Yes.

Notice that the Vikings didn't retire Stringer's #, but honored him in a lesser way.

Retired Vikes #s:

10 Fran Tarkenton
53 Mick Tingelhoff
70 Jim Marshall
77 Korey Stringer
80 Cris Carter
88 Alan Page

Shouldn't be IMO.

Also Wolves would be fine to retire Minneapolis Lakers stars numbers IMO.

So it's way easier for Vikings to get into the HoF than getting their #s retired (barring dying in training camp), but were talking about retiring the #s of role players?

I don't know, I think when an important player dies on the practice/game field you should probably retire his number. I mean, it's the least you could do.

All you guys arguing against me, what Wolf role players do you think should have their #s retired besides Sealy's? This is just a bunch of speculative hot air.

Yeah, what if they die due to a stupid drunk driver? If the team plane goes down do you retire 15 numbers?

It depends on how people define role player....

No Wolves role players should have their jerseys retired. I need to see some championship banners hanging before I'd have that conversation. First round exits and lottery appearances don't get you squat.

This thread wasn't meant to be specific to the Wolves.

Here's a question... Ray Allen, what happens after he retires? Great career, all-star, spent his time on 3 teams...

I don't know what happens to him, but I wish we never traded him away. :(

Ray Allen's jersey could be retired by all 3 of his teams, but I'm sure there are plenty of great players who don't have their jersery retired by anyone.
