so is buying Berbatov, Saha or Veron. like i said you'll see bad signings from every manager in the world, especially from one that has been with a club for 6 years, but overall his performance in the transfer market doesn't warrant the grief he gets from casual fans and the media.

Berbatov signing aint that bad, atleast MU won some chips., Saha pretty serviceable at that time. Jermaine Pennant also not that bad,, i like him in his Liverpool days.

Benitez' transfer buying weren't that bad, the only mistakes he made was when it came to buying for depth, that's where he failed miserably. And this cost Liverpool, especially with the sale of Xabi Alonso as they weren't able to find a replacement for him and in terms of competing in a long season which included the EPL, Fa Cup, League Cup, Champions League and the Europa League. When you're involved with this many matches, depth is key. (see Aston Villa)
