What would you give up for Al Horford?
Looking up some of these stats for Al Jefferson, Al Horford is really popping up was someone the Wolves could really use.
The Hawks aren't shopping him, but what would you offer?
Over on the Hawks board, Kaman + #8 for Horford & Bibby got mixed reviews, while my initial offer of Love, Pekovic + #16 was immediately shot down, and Love + #4 was "the starting point."

if love + 4 is a starting point, then I don't see a need for us to start.

I don't either, but I think we can make a fair package that doesn't include the #4.
The idea would be to have a Cousins/Horford frontcourt.

Im thinking that ATL isn't gonna trade him unless they get a mind blowing offer.

Would you give up Love, Flynn, #16, #23 for Horford and Bibby? If that deal includes Indy, and nets the Hawks the #10?

Agreed. Love + 4 = 2 (Turner). I wouldn't even begin to negotiate if that was the start.

Seeing as how the most recent test of value for the 2nd pick was in 2006 and it only got 4 + Viktor Khryapa (the 22nd pick the year before), I'd say that Love + 4 should = 1.
As for the Horford trade, if Love + 4 is a "starting point", then we'd be much better off trying to get the 3 and taking Favors. He is a player similar to Horford except longer, younger, on a rookie contract longer, and with a higher ceiling.

wow, Atlanta must be crazy, I'd say Love+16 would be fair...but Love and 4 as a starting point?

And Foye + Miller = #5 (and #1 this year

I'm not saying that Washington would do that (they wouldn't and shouldn't), I'm just saying that Love + 4 is overpaying for 2.

Agreed, but that's what I think it would take to move up short of taking on Brand's contract.

Trading for Al Horford recquires grossly overpaying. I don't see a deal possible.
Young C's like Horford don't grow on tree's.

Re: What would you give up for Al Horford?
I see Horford as ATL's "untouchable" right now. I don't think they completely blow it up yet, and Horford is an excellent piece to build around.
When/If Johnson leaves, they'll need a play making wing who can shoot (maybe they can get someone decent with their pick?)
Also, Bibby ain't getting any younger, and a PG would really benefit that team.

Re: What would you give up for Al Horford?
What a weird thread. Things that are confusing:
-Why we would be going after a player like Horford. 23 year old, 3rd year players who fit great with their teams don't get traded.
-How Horford is seen as a great fit. Not a true center, a good-not-great athlete, no star potential.
-How Atlanta could be seen as a viable trading partner at all. We both want a 7' defensive stud above all else. We'd just be rearranging the deck chairs.
-How much Atlanta overvalues Horford. He's worth marginally more than Love. I started a Love vs Horford thread in December or so and got mixed responses on peoples' preferences. Bill Simmons had Love 28th, Horford 22nd in his trade value column.
My head hurts. I kinda wish I hadn't seen this at all.

Good luck in life, sounds like it will be a struggle.
