I would personally love this. Dumars showing that he didn't learn from the Darko at #2 disaster.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

To be fair, Darko only failed as bad as he did because he never got a chance.

Put up a thread in the Mock Draft section and I'll update it with the stuff off my blog and/or answer questions relatively frequently up until the draft hits.

There's some momentum for Whiteside on the Kings board. I'm not sure if that means Whiteside at 5 or trading back though.

wow thats terrible. smh if we would take Orton over Anderson, George,Hayward or even Damion James. I have no interest in Orton. There's no way George makes it to #20.lol

I think you're looking too hard for potential issues in Whiteside's interviews. I certainly wouldn't call him well-spoken, but he comes off more as a kid uncomfortable with having a microphone in his face than a real headcase. Like I've said, there's enough smoke that one wouldn't be surprised to see fire, but there really isn't enough to come up with conclusions like stunningly arrogant, serious attitude problems, the kind of guy who will only work on the areas of the game he likes.

I don't see the Ty Thomas comparison at all. Just look at the bizarre interview from DX with Thomas.

Maybe he just thinks it would be funny for Orton to keep backing up Cousins in the NBA.

When I first skimmed it I thought he had us taking Bledsoe as well, which would be funny. I actually wouldn't mind them taking Bledsoe if they trade a PG.

I do somewhat see the appeal of Orton. He's a big body, reasonably athletic, brings a defensive presence, and actually showed a decent offensive game coming out of high school. I'd still rather they go in a different direction with each of the picks.

Orton and Hayward are the most overrated players in the draft. I would not be surprised at all to see Orton fall to the 20's or worse.

I agree on Whiteside being more coveted than people think. Detroilet is exactly the kind of team that gambles on him. I wouldn't be surprised at Sac, GS, or the LAC either. I think it's a tossup between he and Monroe as to who is the next big off the board after Cousins.

Udoh is going to slip a little because of his age, Aldrich maybe too because of his ugly ass jump shot.

If Darko had gone at 7 or 8 to a team that was a better fit his career would have been much different.
That much hype to a 17 year old kid, along with the success of the guys drafted after him, put unrealistic expectations on him. It still was a really, really stupid pick (and it should worry you how much Tony Ronzone had to do with that pick).

That said, Whiteside is exactly the kind of guy Dumars would pick there.

Sort of reminds me of some of Cousins' interviews

No it wouldn't have. His talent was overblown due to his age, height, and relatively low intel on his career overseas.

Are you lost or are you just addicted to the Minny board and feel the need to reply to every single thread?

There is no question if had landed in a better situation Darko has the talent to be at least a 12-10-2 center in this league. That his talent was "overblown" had EVERYTHING to do with where he was picked and who he was picked over.

Am I not allowed onto other boards? If so then a mod can feel free to warn me or something.

As long as you stay within the TOS, you're fine......its just that usually posters only go to other teams boards for lengthy periods of time just to troll (which is against TOS)

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Timberwolves are hosting several draft prospects in a workout at Target Center on Sunday.

Cal forward Jamal Boykin, UConn forward Gavin Edwards, Texas center Dexter Pittman, Baylor forward Ekpe Udoh and Marshall center Hassan Whiteside are scheduled to attend.

The Timberwolves have three picks in the first round. They currently hold the fourth, 16th and 23rd overall selections. Most of the players scheduled to attend on Sunday are considered possibilities for their lower two picks and not the lottery selection.

The draft will be held on June 24. As the date gets closer, the Wolves will host more of the high-profile players that they will consider with their first choice.

From the Wolves' Facebook:
When asked about playing in Minnesota, Dexter Pittman replied, "This is a beautiful city; I didn't know it was this beautiful. I always grew up watching the Wolves and KG. I just like the city and the logo. The logo looks like a beast. If I have that across my chest, it will be a beast."

Sounds like a 7' version of Glen Davis...
