projects that our possible
free agent signing (via S&T)
could be Raymond Felton
and the pick could be
Patrick Patterson.
I think this would be a
decent-to-solid offseason
scenario as it addresses some
critical personnel issues.
I wouldn't mind it at all.
Your thoughts.
P.S. Check out how they intro'd
the FA signing for CLE.
It got me a chuckle or two.

I would be all for bringing in Felton, although I don't think he's the future answer at point guard. He's better than any option we have right now, and could easily get the job done for the up-coming season, but I would say use him as a starter for one season, then get a point guard in next years draft, and have Felton back him up. As for the Patterson pick, I'm all for it. He would bring another big body next to Hibbert, and is a much better NBA player than a Hansbrough.

I like the idea. I have mentioned Felton in various trade senarios the past Month, even on the Charlotte forum.
Felton is solid and has not peaked by NBA standards. It would be nice and lucky if it happened on the Pacers watch. Currently getting 5.5M and trading Dunleavy @ 9.7M and with the 125% rule for trades, I would offer Raymond a 6.5M 3 year or 7.5M 2 year deal.
In addition, I would ask for G. Henderson as the filler to make the $$ work. Only got 8 minutes in his rookie season and is a veteran college player from DUKE. Fills in the void of Dunleavy @ SG. When he did get 20 minutes toward the end of last season, he posted 14pts ad 7boards. (a rebounding guard), he does need to improve his fre throws and 3 pt shot.
Let's do it.
As for Patterson @ #10, not bad; he may be gone but there are other BIGS at this point in the draft. Also, talk on the street is the the #10 is up for sale.........more excitment and anticipation for draft night.

Not excited about Felton. He'd probably be an upgrade on what the Pacers have now, but they'd have to pay him starter's money, and I don't think he's likely to be better than mediocre as a starting pg relative to the rest of the league. Felton seems like the kind of starting pg you see on teams that are happy to reach .500.
I'm indifferent to Patterson. He'll probably be OK as a pro, but I'm not sure why the Pacers would need him if Hansbrough gets healthy. Obviously, Hansbrough getting healthy is not a sure thing though.
I'm really fairly unexcited about all of the power forward draft prospects likely to be available at #10. Some of them might turn out to be pretty good, but I'm not convinced any of them will be good enough to take the Pacers to a higher level. Udoh's still my first choice, if he's available.

I'm not that high on Felton either. He's had starter minutes handed to him since he was a rookie. Five years in if he was going to be more than average we'd have seen that by now. He's more of a stop gap than someone you are building around. Minnesota has been mentioned as a trading partner for the Pacers often with the Pacers getting Sessions. He strikes me as a more interesting possiblity.
Patterson on the other hand would be ok with me. He has a nice power forward skill set and I could see a situation where the Pacers don't move from pick 10. Patterson very well could be BPA from that drafting spot.
If you did draft Patterson I am a fan of moving Murphy for Hinrich. I know lots of people disagree but I think Hinrich would thrive in the Pacer system.

Murphy for Hinrich works we save $2.9 million this coming season, the Felton deal works as well. I'd say that neither Felton or Hinrich is Mr Right at PG but could be Mr Right Now.

Re: A Bobcat & Wildcat, Anyone?
is Patterson tall enough to rebound and defend the 4 spot? if so, he's a good pick because he's got three point range and will fit our offense.
at point, we almost need a combo guard with the ball skills to beat pressure. that sounds more like Hinrich than Felton but maybe I've not seen Felton enough. it is sure clear that O'B will not adjust his offense to suit the skills of his players.

Patterson has a 7' wing span. I think he is plenty long enough to defend all but a few 4's in the league.

Charles Barkley is only about 6'5''!

Charles Barkley is a physical monster, though. He also played little defense.
