Yeah his shot looks like Boozer's huh??? On that note...what a way to waste a pick, picking him at #5 ..he's NOT a top ten pick at all...11-14 is where he's ought to be

And how UGLY is Aldrich's shot? It looks worse than Evans' did in his workout videos...
Still goes in nice and smooth. Did in college too.
Looks nice and smooth when you're playing against college players...now, in the NBA...that shot isn't going to work. He brings the ball WAY too far back.

Actually I would think it would help in a one on one sense since it would be very hard to block. He could be susceptible to getting blocked from behind but that's unlikely on a consistent basis.
It is kind of like Boozers and his shot is fine at the NBA level.

I don't know, it's certainly not hopeless defensively. Both certainly have all the tools to be decent defenders if they strive for it.
One of the tools of defense is toughness and desire. Neither really has it. And while having that much size over all might be nice, neither has the length to make up for the fact that neither has the lateral quickness to guard PFs and Spencer will never have the strength to be good at guarding centers.
So, no.

What he said.
I'd take Aldrich and Whiteside over Monroe. At least they play defense. Whiteside also had a pretty decent jumper in college, so.

I don't know, still not sold on Whiteside. He's going to take 2-3 years to develop and he really didn't look all that athletic to me.

Re: Pre Draft Workout Thread
Best recorded wingspan of the combine, 6'10.5 without shoes, and his no step virtical was 27.0 (which was only bested by Favors 31.5, Ed Davis' 31 and Udoh's 30.5 in terms of the bigs we're talking about - meanwhile, Monroe was a 25). He's pretty athletic... not gonna jump out of the building, but. He's got a decent jumper, although that didn't transition over to FTs.
Consider that, and he's a great defender and a great shotblocker and a ton of potential. Monroe is a pretty scorer, but not a pretty defender.

Re: Pre Draft Workout Thread
He's not an insane athlete, but he's a good one. He moves well, and much more importantly, he's ridiculously long. RIDICULOUSLY. He seems to already know how to use that length (hence the shotblocking at a ridiculous rate), and he even has hints of offensive skill. He still needs time to put it all together, but I'd rather wait for that then pair Monroe with any big we currently have and be guaranteed to be insufficient defensively.

Isn't 2 years what Kings fans should be planning on? If he's "ready" in two years, that seems like perfect timing.
He is a good athlete, not super bouncy, but runs the floor well and has the tools to develop a good face up game. He's bee working with Hakeem to develop his post game.
Obviously defense is his calling card. Walt Perrin of the Jazz thinks shot blocking translates to the NBA much like rebounding.
Finally, if Monroe/Whiteside are both available the Kings will have a big decision to make, and the front office/coaching staff may be split on who to take.

The Cousins vs. Favors workout is individual at the same time, not head to head from what I'm hearing.

The one concern I have is that he's already 21 and he doesn't look like he has a body that's going to be able to put on much weight. I've heard he's been getting worked in the post in workouts and it really shouldn't be any surprise why. His help defense is awesome but his one and one is suspect.
The problem with waiting for a guy to develop to the extent somebody like Whiteside has to is that it's very unlikely he comes close to his ceiling. Is he the next O'Bryant? Or the next Bynum? I wouldn't put a lot of faith in the latter at this point.

Relatively legitimate points. I would say though that I have more faith in Whiteside putting on ample weight than Spencer at this point, as well as toughening up and learning better defensive fundamentals. And while Monroe should have ample strength, guys get stronger much more often than they get tougher.
And, I mean, the rest is certainly up for debate, but we can only know so much. But I do know this--if we draft Monroe, it should only be for the potential value he brings or with the intention of making other moves to adjust around him. Whiteside may not pan out, but Monroe being paired with any of our bigs will DEFINITELY not pan out.

Re: Pre Draft Workout Thread
I think Monroe is the most NBA ready big man in the draft. The more and more I tink about it we need to trade Hawes for next pick..his era as a king are numbered imo.
Maybe Hawes Noc to either of these teams...Pacers, Toronto Heat (teams that can use Hawes) for pick
Draft Monroe at 5 and Aldrich at 10
Monroe/Aldrich
JT/Landry/Brockman
Casspi/Donte
Beno/Cico
Evans/Warren
We address our needs in the Daft

When do you think that Favors/Cousins workout video is going to be released?

Re: Pre Draft Workout Thread
If Cousins and Favors are both off the board, the Kings aren't a lock to take Monroe like everyone is saying. He may be a favorite, but workouts aren't done for the bigmen.

It's going to be interesting to see who is invited for a 2nd workout...so far, no one has been.
