Stanford, Bryan doesn't have to, but going back to the WWE is still his most lucrative option. I love the guy but he has probably, what, 1/4 the Q rating John Cena does. Giving the middle finger to the WWE is the classic case of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Here's I think a pretty analogyous situation: I'm a starter on an NFL team and I'm accused of some crime something real bad like sexual assault or rape and within 48 hours the team cuts me. Then a few weeks later its revealed that I'm completely innocent and the whole thing was a hoax designed to extort money out of me. The team that cut me apologizes and offers to sign me back to basically the same contract I had before and I'd get my starting job back, etc. etc. So I can do that, or I can give the middle finger to my former team and take less money from other teams and not have a guranteed starting job. Certainly a part of me would say take the latter option, but if I sat down and weighed the pro's and con's of each choice logically and not emotionally I'd decide that my best option would be to return to my former team.

They didn't have to do anything.

If you were Bryan Danielson, you would be fine with being fired for some bull political reasons? Have a little integrity.

**** republicans...

Would I be fine with it? Absolutely not. But this is the biggest decision of my life and I'm not gonna make it based on emotion. Like I said when you weigh the pro's and con's of each choice the WWE is still your best option.

What exactly are these pros? I see money, and I see fame. He certainly won't be given the chance to work the best matches of his career. It's not a company that focuses on his strong points.

I think you gave a fine analogy safi, and it has merit, but I really don't see it that way. I see the situation like a musician who's forced to churn out pop albums instead of the music he'd like to play, or a screenwriter who's script is re-written to appeal to a larger audience. I don't know Danielson, and maybe fame and fortune are extremely important to him at this point in his life, but honestly, I think the WWE is beneath him. He'll go down as perhaps the wrestler of the decade in the 2000s and he didn't work a single match for the WWE (other than dark matches and the like). Unless I'm seriously starving for mega bucks and mega fame, I wouldn't want to wrestle lesser quality matches for a company that clearly doesn't make the wrestling business the number one priority, however prestigious the job is perceived to be.

As much as you don't want emotion making your decision, I don't want money making mine.

The thing is, he's already made that decision once and he chose WWE. TNA for all of its faults, and it has a lot of them, doesn't really try to change there wrestlers' style and stylistically is a better fit for his style than WWE. If he's looking at this strictly from an in-ring perspective, he would've made a different decision last August.

When he made that decision I was really excited but it was because I wanted to see him become a star. There were only 3-4 guys I really wanted to see him wrestle, Jericho, Mysterio and the since-released Shelton Benjamin and although its happened before I'd have no problem at all with more Punk vs Danielson

In TNA you've got a dozen guys, many of whom he has wrestled before, who he would tear the house down with. And obviously they've got Kurt Angle and those 2 are probably the best wrestlers in North America right now. The Angle-Lesnar Ironman match is IMO the match of the 2000's and this match would have the potential to exceed that.

i'm so sick of the 'wwe water downs the moves' thing ... no they don't, they just reduce the risk of dangerous moves because they have their guys working 85% of the calendar year and don't want wrestlers putting their health at risk.

Please, most PPV matches are much riskier than your typical Danielson match. I'm not talking about sick looking finishers or high flying moves, I'm just talking about solid wrestling matches. Your average Danielson match is a thousand times better than any match on RAW or SD! Hell, even the match he had with Jericho, a very talented performer, was just average. For whatever reason, the bulk of the matches WWE puts out are sub-par, despite a talented roster. It's just not at all what they care about.

The thing is, he's already made that decision once and he chose WWE. TNA for all of its faults, and it has a lot of them, doesn't really try to change there wrestlers' style and stylistically is a better fit for his style than WWE. Well that's fair. Again, I don't know Danielson personally. But maybe he thought it would be different last August. I'm sure he didn't expect it to be easy, or have a push just handed to him right away, but he probably expected that if he worked hard enough that he could make his way to the top. This latest move would show me that the WWE's top priority is politics, and not the on screen product. Perhaps he didn't expect that coming in.

I hope he does go to TNA, although they're not at the level they used to be in-ring. Their PPVs were so much fun to watch back when they first got started, up to and beyond the point when Joe joined them. Sometime in the last couple of years they started focusing on the sports entertainment side a little more and I think it's hurt the in-ring product. I'd still like to see him there though.

But he was working his way to the top. I don't think they were perfect with the way they used him, I saw no reason why he spent time in FCW and the way he was used during NXT with the exception of the very end was pretty stupid. Having said that, he had some great segments at the end of that show and was going to be a co-leader in one of the biggest angles they've done in years.

Now he was done wrong, but this was a fairly anomalous situation and its well known that the main man in the company is a big fan of his. In a few weeks when they call him back offering a contract, I see no reason to believe that he can't be a huge star.

Call me what you want but I think that blame shouldnt go all on Vince in the end due to the PG Era i guess it his fault, but when a sponsor that is pouring millions of dollars into your company and are in your ear telling you serious actions need to take place your hands are tied with a tough decision, i guess sort of similar to the Hassan incident, but Hassan had his character killed off, which is kinda BS considering that angle was pretty racist and a little over the top....I can see Danielson coming back with a bigger check and a promise of a good push thats just my opinion.....The two remaining McMahon's were very pleased with the angle and Danielson after the attack on Cena, and co.....and Vince apparently called him his self to tell Danielson of the news...

A couple of thoughts about the Hassan situation which is probably the most analogous to this one. I didn't find the charachter offensive and I'm Indian, I could easily pass for an arab I have an arab name and I'm Muslim. I actually really liked the charachter, it was much better than caricature charachters like Iron Sheik or Tiger Ali Singh. People who grew up in the post 9/11 world with that background, many of us, including myself dealt with a lot of the things he was talking about. Obviously it was exaggerated but this is wrestling and that's to be expected.

The other thing about the Hassan incident was, this was supposed to be a quasi terrorist attack and a few hours before the show was supposed to air the London bombings take place. Had that happened live I think we all would have been offended.

So while there were certainly similarities especially with the way both were dealth with in the after math of the incident, the Bryan situation is not nearly as serious. But then again, Linda McMahon wasn't running a losing senate campaign in July 2005.

I shouldve edited my post and said many ppl think it was racist, I thought it was a little over the top with the masked men though i thought it was badass how they completely destroyed 'Taker

I too am Muslim not religious but consider myself muslim, and loved the way he was packaged, his character, along with the attack on the Undertaker i didnt find it all that racist i thought it was pretty cool on how over he was as a heel.....with that said his character became a little extreme as his push was going, he first came in speaking of unfair treatment, that he was a fellow American but just of Arab descent, as his push was going on they made his character a little more extreme, he began to verbally insult America, and then you had the incident where "masked men" came attacked the 'Taker while he has his arms raised in the air, masked men that look like alot like you seen on the International news.....as i said I didnt find it racist/offensive, but many Muslims did and rightfully so, I can certainly see why granted its all scripted you have a man who has acknowledged being an Arab-Muslim portrayed as a borderline terrorist

but your right in the end the WWE wasnt PG @ the time and Linda wasnt trying to run for senate seat

The incident with the masked men may have considered offensive no matter when it happened, but it was borderline incendiary because it happened literally hours after the London bombings. I fully understand why many thought that was in extremely bad taste. The people who were most offended by that were mostly non-wrestling fans who probably didn't even know that Smackdown was taped three days earlier.

Stanford wrote:He shouldn't come back. I sure as hell wouldn't. Danielson is one of the most well respected wrestlers certainly in North America, possibly world wide. He shouldn't have to be dicked around with by a company that makes live action cartoons for children.

It's so sad where this company has gone. This is the same company that was willing to take risks in the late 90s, that churned out compelling, fresh entertainment that created an army of new wrestling fans. And here they are now, wilting away as they continue to focus on young kids that lose interest as they get older. They're not making wrestling fans anymore. That means when they lose the entire attitude era fanbase, they're going to be left with that small market of young kids and more importantly, they'll lose that next generation of talent.

It's every conspiracy horror story come true, and it's got to be scary for anyone with hopes of doing big things in this industry.

Most fans from the attitude era are already gone. Most of them that still are around are guys like myself that just watch werestling extremely casually these days. Back then from 1996 till mid 2002 I made sure I didnt miss a minute of RAW/NITRO/SMACKDOWN. I would always tape 1 and watch the other. If i was out or at work, I always made damn sure i had that VCR set and would watch it when i got home, no matter how late it was. Now??? I MIGHT catch about a half hour worth of RAW and Smackdown each week. If im not busy and theres nothing good on, i'll check it out. If im out or at work, I never bother to tape/DVR it anymore, cause its not even worth the time to check it out. In fact the only FULL EPISODE of any show that i've seen in the last 7 or so years, (besides the ones I attend when they come to town) was the 15th anniversery Raw special.

Now again, just like the Muhammad Hassan character/storyline 5 years ago, with the Danielson thing today, it seems like everytime that damn company does come up with fresh new creative ideas for characters/storylines that actually draw heat and interest, they just scrap it due to politics. Its B.S. and it makes fans like me that watched wrestling during the golden years (96-02) realize how bad its gotten and its hardly a thrill at asll to watch anymore

If this is legit and Danielson was fired over the the choking of the announcer, why then would they feature that image of him choking the guy in all of the video replays of the attack by the NXT'ers? Seems like a work to me.

Happy 'find out wtf is really going on with Danielson' day everyone.

What's the verdict btw? If he's mentioned it's a work, if he's not it's real?

LOL!

I'm predicting that it's a work. If the choking incident was such a big deal, they wouldn't have continued to show it in all of the replays over the past week.

Yeah work or not, I don't expect to see him tonight. But if they mention him more than once tonight, then it's definitely a work. If this is a work, they sure did a lot to get Danielson over.
