Darko Miliminutes wrote:Cousins did well against shrimps in college. When he played against decent front courts, he was unimpressive. The only player, at his size in college, to play well in the NBA has been Shaq. Cousins is extremely overrated! As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, he'll be on the bench with a serious "fat-a$$" type injury, by the all star break.

I really hope Minny doesn't pick this Eddy Curry wannabe. Darko's better than Cousins will be.

Darko and Curry are examples of guys who were only taken because of their size. They had no actual productivity under their name.

Cousins on the other hand was one of the most productive players in the entire country. Cousins despite having that size is also incredibly skilled.

Just think about that, a guy with a body as big on paper as Dwight Howard but far more skilled. Of course not as athletic or he'd be prohibitively the #1 overall pick, but again to have the skill at that size and the production to boot bodes well for Cousins.

I don't think Minnesota can afford NOT to take him. They need to take a "gamble" if thats what people want to call Cousins. He will put butts in seats and energize the city. We can find people like wesley johnson in other ways.

What do people think of Moses Malone as an absolute best case scenario for Cousins if he can keep his head on straight?

If Eddy Curry would only try harder, he could be dominant again.

I'll hold hope in one hand, and...

Cousins is already a far better rebounder than people like Curry and Darko can ever hope to be.

A bit off topic, but per DX twitter:

"Hearing Cousins won't work out in Minnesota. Apparently they have their mind made up on Wes Johnson. Jives w/everything else we're hearing."

One can only hope that's true. That could mean Cousins could fall to the Kings which is the absolute PERFECT fit for him.

Not to mention I don't think Minnesota deserves this guy. Maybe I"m just bitter that they took all those PGs in the draft and traded the pick of Ty Lawson before we got a shot at him

But more than anything just the thought of Demarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans, the Kings could have arguably the best two young players are the most coveted positions in basketball

Which team does deserve him if it isn't Minnesota after sucking for years due to McHale and getting screwed by the lottery like always?
Cousins doesn't want to play in Minnesota. That's why he refuses the workout.

Passing on Cousins for Johnson would be a very poor move by Minnesota, IMO. Who cares if he doesn't want to play there right now, he's not going to hold out. Cousins is clearly a better prospect than Johnson and Minny is lacking talent. Take him and float Jefferson in trade talks with other assets (Rubio or the other 1sts).

NBA players don't get to dictate where they play.

Sacto would be a real nice fit for Cousins, they really need a bruising big who can score in the post. If the Kings can keep Tyreke and Cousins motivated, and encourage them to play smart, unselfish basketball, then they'd have a potentially awesome 2 man combo down the road.

If Cousins falls to the Kings

Tyreke/Beno
Garcia/
Greene/Casspi
Thompson/Landry
Cousins/Hawes

If one of Greene/Casspi pans out, Cousins stays motivated, and Tyreke improves his jumper, that team is a playoff contender next year and well on its way to being a championship contender down the road. Come on Kahn make it happen!

Cousins has "chip on his shoulder" written all over him. He is going to fall, maybe even to 7, and every team that passes on him will feel the wrath. I really hope the kings get him.

How would it not be? You do realize that the Boston Celtics aren't going to be in the league forever? Neither is Kobe. THe Lakers will have to rebuild one day. Of course the Lakers rebuilding years are always shorter than any team in the league, but still they have a down 3+ years themselves at times.

With Tyreke Evans a guy who could become the best PG in the league and DeMarcus Cousins who could be a top 2 Center in the league, how in the world would they NOT be championship contenders?

Now this highly depends on the word could. You better wait and see how they do the next season before making such statemends. :dontknow:

OK OK, so dominant may have been a bit much. But 05-06 or 06-07 (i think it was 06-07) he was very very good offensively, borderline dominant at times. I guess that was my point.
