The Official: 2010 Offseason Thread

Post#1 » by Snayr » Fri Jun 11, 2010 5:53 pm

Well we've had a thread for the regular season, and the playoffs... and those are done so I unstickied them. Soooo, I figured it would only make sense to talk offseason in one thread as opposed to making multiple threads for every move announced, etc.

So, without further ado... post anything and everything hockey related throughout the offseason in here! Lets keep this thread going over the summer boys, keep this place bumpin'!

Blackhawks fire sale! Who wants Patrick Sharp? Brian Campbell? Cristobal Huet is going to spend time rooming with WEFFPIM in Rockford.

The Hawks need to find a way to keep Niklas Hjalmarsson for sure and Niemi too.

I'm so glad the Hawks finished business this season by winning the Stanley Cup. It's still going to be a tense offseason for us but that Stanley Cup win took a lot of weight off the organization's shoulders.

Keep Sharp and Byfuglien, rid of Versteeg.

I really hope Sharp doesn't end up with the Leafs... If I can't have Sharp on the Habs, I DEFINITELY do not want the Leafs to get him.

And the Chicago sale is on. Enjoy fellas

Couldn't be happier with Detroits offseason so far. Resigned Lidstrom and Holmstrom and brought back Hudler. And we just signed Filppula's older brother to a one year deal. As long as we wrap up our RFA's, Detroit will be looking great

Also re-signed Bertuzzi to a 2 year deal just under 4 mill total.

All the top teams in the West will be interesting to watch this offseason. We've talked about the Blackhawks and the Red Wings, but what's San Jose gonna do? What about Vancouver and Phoenix? And will Los Angeles finally land a big name free agent they've coveted the last couple of seasons?

I was actually hoping Bert was not resigned...I don't know where all our guys are going to play. Its hard to make a youth movement when you keep resigning vets

If the Kings don't land Kovalchuk, I think they're getting Marleau.

Got this from "Dallas Dave" off of another forum. He's a guy I've been following on Twitter and he's been pretty reputable since the beginning... though I don't know about this crap. If this is true, dang.

Hey guys,

Sorry I couldn't break this one for you but I do have some interesting news. Everyone seems to be assuming that Carey Price is now the man in Montreal. This is not necessarily the case. Pierre Gauthier has even spoke publicly that he could possibly trade both goaltenders, and there is a "possibility" that will occur.

It's still quite possible that Price is the man come October, but there are rumors swirling that at least one team is contemplating an offersheet on Carey Price. This is somewhat similar to the Kessel situation, in that one team is willing to offer Price more money than what Montreal is prepared to offer, so a trade is the better route to go as the offersheet is still viewed as taboo.

In the scenario that Price leaves Montreal, Gauthier can then take advantage of the glut of goalies available this summer, whether it be Mason or even Marty Turco.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but don't be surprised if you hear Carey Price is being shipped out as well.

Not sure why you want Huet gone. He's gonna win your Icehogs a Calder Cup for sure.

There's something to brag about. I went to school with a minor league hockey player. Take that, bitches! :)

Haha, not bragging, he's just a cool guy so I'd be happy to see him make it. There's another guy I went to school with that plays for Vancouver, but I never met him or anything. Bolduc; I don't remember his first name.

Alexandre.

Don't worry, my school doesn't have very many famous people either. :)
