Wolves Summer League Thread

Post#1 » by Klomp » Tue Jun 15, 2010 9:38 pm

The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team's schedule for the 2010 NBA Summer League, which will run from July 9-18 in Las Vegas. All 58 summer league games will be held at the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus in either the Thomas & Mack Center or the COX Pavilion.

This year, 22 of the 30 NBA teams will be participating in the NBA Summer League, including 11 playoff teams. The summer league will be the first chance to see many of the top 2010 NBA draft picks in action for their new teams. Currently, 10 of the 14 lottery picks in the 2010 NBA Draft are held by teams that will be participating in the NBA Summer League, including three teams with top-five picks: the Washington Wizards (1st), Minnesota Timberwolves (4th), and Sacramento Kings (5th).

Tickets for the 2010 NBA Summer League are on sale and can be purchased by calling 702-739-FANS, through UNLVtickets.com or by visiting the Thomas & Mack Center Box Office and UNLV Ticket Outlets. All general admission tickets are $25 for the day; seniors and children (3-12) are $15 for the day; and children two years and under are admitted free of charge.

The Timberwolves schedule for the 2010 NBA Summer League follows:

Monday July 12
vs. San Antonio COX Pavilion 5:30 PM Central

Wednesday July 14
vs. Sacramento COX Pavilion 9:00 PM Central

Friday July 16
vs. Memphis COX Pavilion 9:00 PM Central

Saturday July 17
vs. Portland COX Pavilion 9:00 PM Central

Sunday July 18
vs. Atlanta Thomas & Mack 5:30 PM Central

Who will be there?

Personally, I wouldn't be shocked if Flynn is there, as well as Ellington. Stiemsma is all but a lock. If we get them signed in time, I wonder if either Milicic or Pekovic might show up....I've heard Damian Johnson is a possibility too.

Think I might pull a 3 day stay and catch the first two games, been awhile since I've been to LV and even longer since I've seen Wolves basketball in person.

I wouldn't blame Milicic if he didn't play in the Summer League. Pekovic should play just because he'd still be a rookie. I want to see our Summer League team just destroy the competition even though it really doesn't mean too much (doesn't hurt).

Hope we don't have to buy it last we did last year, although I'd be hard pressed not to find enough money on the side to do it. It's just so fun to watch :-)

Look for Samb as a possible signee this summer as he has a good chance of playing on the Wolves’ summer league squad.

Bump

It'd be fun to see a smallball lineup of Flynn/Ellington/Johnson/Hayward/Samb

We really need some kind of star. The teams that draft the best are always the ones that already have that alpha dog, like Evans in Sacramento and Durant in Oklahoma.

Prestes and Bjelica are playing in the summer league?

Hopefully Flynn plays again as well so he can get some game time with Johnson and the other rookies.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I'm surprised about Prestes. Bjelica not as much. Smith is a D2 kid trying out for the team.

Yeah Prestes is surprising but I'm interested to see what Bjelica can do. They should bring Silas in again, he was awesome last year for them.

Prestes is playing? That surprises me. I guess I will wait until it officially is stated. They could just be giving all the rookies the assumption they are in.

Now if we can just get Flynn, Ellington, and Pekovic in on the action. That way we can be undefeated in the summer 8-)

I don't think Bjelica will play in the summer league. He'll spend the summer with the Serbian national team preparing for the World Championship in Turkey in September. Darko too, of course...
