I'm not sure they did. All the Detroit press has been reporting that this whole thing was not about leverage, and that he was close to taking the job, but was turned off by not being able to speak to LeBron.

What's the word on Mike Woodson? I heard he's a candidate, but I can't imagine he's really any better than Mike Brown. Scott makes sense to me, but not Woodson. Kelvin Sampson is an interesting name too.

Oh do not get me wrong, I do not think Izzo was using Cleveland as leverage. He is a standout guy and I believe he had a genuine interest in this job. Again, as a business person, I do not let my franchise guy go without asking if we can sweeten the pot. I think MSU had to up their offer. Combine this with the LeBron factor, it really was not even a close decision.

And Outlaw - please give Heath a cyber kick in the nads for us. Thx

OK, Izzo just had too much time and capital built up to leave MSU. Good for him.

I don't want Byron Scott, Brian Shaw, Kelvin Sampson or any cut from that cloth. They are not the answer. They are Mike Brown II.

Dan Gilbert and Chris Grant need to find better options.

That'd be fantastic if better options were available.

Could you expand on the 'cut from the same cloth' and the next Mike Brown? I don't see how they are so very similar to each other and coach Brown.
