My RealGM brethren...

Post#1 » by TheRevTy » Wed Jun 16, 2010 3:42 pm

I come with gifts of inside rumors! I know I've posted some of the info I receive from Magical on here (hear that, maginno? I receive the info, I don't gather it myself! Let's not start that again!)

I asked him about the draft. He somewhat blew it off, saying we'll try and use Gortat to move up, and likely go after a wing at 29 if we don't sell the pick (no surprise there after seeing the list of invites to our "pre-draft" workout). Why the disinterest in the draft?

Free agents, my friends.

Otis is fully aware that this is a once in a lifetime summer. It can truly make or break a franchise. If he plays his cards right, he could create a dynasty - or he could be left behind while another dynasty is created elsewhere. What does it all mean?

Otis is going to be very active in trying to work a sign and trade. Involving whom, you might ask. Well, he supposedly has a board with the name of every top free agent and contact numbers. He's been talking to any and all GM's about the possibility of a sign and trade, keeping these franchises from losing their top player for nothing.

Wait, did you say EVERY free agent? Even...

Yes. Even Him.

As it was put to me, if we go into next season having not made a big move, it wasn't for lack of trying, but because no team wanted to deal with us. Otis knows we are in prime position to put Orlando on the sports map, and the only player off the table in talks wears the number 12. Again, if we don't make a deal, it is because nobody would trade with us, not because Otis wasn't working the phones.

This will be a VERY interesting summer.

Thanks for the info. I still say our only really shot is with Boozer, with a slight chance at Amare or a few of the lesser names. It's an interesting NBA summer.

wow

Lebron can get the most money if he signs with the cavs right?

Well if he sign n trades then he could play anywhere for that same money, including orlando, right? And there is only one team with the best big man in the league. Wow

If only that were true. He can get the same contract, but not the same endorsements. He wants to be in a major market. That's not in Orlando. That's why he's so attracted to New York and Chicago. His ego and his friends want the big city.

Yeah, I would say it is unlikely LeBron would prefer to come to Orlando. Our only hope is that he values winning more than anything else. If that is the case, we have to be in the running.

But, to me, it is incredibly refreshing to hear that Otis is trying - especially given his reputation for sitting idly by while other teams make the moves.

Wade and Lebron are pipe dreams. Not happening. If you just want to entertain the idea of a major free agent you should look at Bosh, Joe Johnson, Boozer, or Amare.

Gortat, Redick, and Jameer for Bosh and #13 pick?

Gortat and Jameer for Joe Johnson & #24 pick?

Gortat, Redick, and TPE for Boozer?

Gortat, Redick, and Anderson for Amare?

toronto aren't giving up bosh & the #13 lottery pick for that. that front office is trying to fix the turk incident and this doesn't help things

i don't see atlanta going for this.

can't combine the TPE with a player in a trade

i'm not sure if this works salary wise. we'd have to s&t redick in that deal and we don't know how much/if at all phoenix values redick

Crossing fingers for the best, but not going to invest much into the FA news.

Using Gortat to move up might be easier said then done, since we'd have to take back equal salary.

Well, I'm glad to hear we're exploring all avenues. I won't be getting my hopes up too much, given that getting Lebron or Wade etc. here requires their current franchises to want something we have, but it's good that we are at least looking to make offers.

Great trade ideas, lets trade away our only point guard under contract for next year and not get one in return and try to make a run at the playoffs with a MLE or less type player running the show

As much as I like Jameer, if we're getting LBJ back, then I'm cool with it - for JJ I would have to think about it.

Don't forget we have Carter as an asset.

What are some examples of the sources credibility? Did he speculate any actual trades before they happen? or a past free agent signing before it happened?

Great info none the less

If it's the same as before, then they called transactions in the past before they became public.

That's said, I always take these reports with a grain of salt - misdirection could be purposefully be leaked.
