MMA Betting
Dudes, is there anyway to mock bet (using Vegas odds) on MMA events? I'd like to try my hand at it, see if I could make money.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I think you are smart enough to make money. I have done pretty well betting MMA (a lot better had I not been hosed out of a sick parlay by the crappy Shogun/Machida decision), and while the lines are getting better, there are still plenty of times when the odds makers are off.
Because MMA betting is new, there are still good bets to be had.

Re: MMA Betting
Can't you just use centsports or something similar?
I haven't had too much luck with MMA betting. I think its because I don't consistently bet, just sometimes lay 5 bucks or so on guys whose actual chances to win significantly outweigh their odds. I also like to get in on the guys whose odds are inflated simply because of their name (e.g., I won some decent coin off the Couture-Nog match.

In this instance, how did you know which aging overrated fighter to bet on?

Re: MMA Betting
Wasn't sure who was going to win, just knew that Nog wasn't even close to as big of an underdog as the odds would have had one believe.

Re: MMA Betting
Every once in a while I get an "intuition" that turns out to be totally effin wrong. I would have assumed the lines to be far too in favor of Cro Cop, for example, and put a fortune on Barry. I think that's what would screw me over, I'm always thinking I know something no one else will take into account.
I'd be betting massively on Lawler for tonight, for example.
The point is - I want to test it out.

Re: MMA Betting
I don't know of anything that lets you "mock bet," but you could just see the odds and keep track of it yourself.
I feel like it's kind of different when you're dealing with an actual bankroll though. I guess, just try to be as honest with yourself as you can, in terms of how much you would actually bet.
www.sportsinteraction.com lets you make your bet ticket without logging in, so that could help. I'm sure other sites will let you do that as well. Helpful for calculating odds on parlays and whatnot.

Re: MMA Betting
Oh, I should note...sportsinteraction is a pretty terrible site. If/when you actually sign up to bet, look elsewhere.
They don't even have the Strikeforce fights tonight, so you can forget about Dream/Sengoku/Bellator (some real money to be made there I think), and for smaller shows (Fight Nights and such) you can't do parlays.
