Aren't they the favorite to win it all?
Seemed like they had the ball the whole game, plenty of opportunities but not goal. Swiz goes on a counterattack with two players on the offensive side of the field and score

Because he's following the Ronaldo career path, burst onto the scene and be the best player in the world for a couple of years, then start partying and getting fat until you have to seriously consider playing in the MLS. Plus he'd disrupt the chemistry of the team as he wouldn't play a major role and thus would start sulking or just partying, highly unlikely he'd play the good soldier.

eviL wrote:Why so much hype behind Danny? He's looked terrible so far. Subbing him out for Simao was way overdue

I have no **** clue why they played him out wide. Danny's a really talented play in the middle, he's like Xavi and Pirlo, a guy who needs to play in the middle and hang kinda deep. He's just a bad fit being stuck out on a wing.

Keep dreaming, bub.

With the way we looked in that first game after that early corner I will. 8-)

Pharmcat wrote:cant believe spain lost

Really? You're surprised that a team playing with no width lost to a very disciplined and well organized team that could just cluster up the middle of the field and had a stud in net? I know spain has all of the best players from Fifa 10, but unlike Brazil all of that talent is poorly organized into a team and they are playing guys in bad spots.

Meh, spain took a lot of long shots but did nothing to spread out the swiss defense to create a genuinely good chance close to the net. That's because of the lineup they go with which is so strong up the middle, but everyone drifts inside to clog things up which is why they had to take so many long shots which just won't beat a good keeper like Benaglio on most days.

Domination by Argentina...and then Demichelis makes a noob mistake right before halftime to let Korea pull one back. Aguero will have to wait a little longer to debut.

Messi closed it out, even without getting the goal...he's been brilliant thus far.

Its only a matter of time before he gets off the mark. The Argentinian attack is pretty as hell to watch when they got it going.

Nothing to feel ashamed about, brother. The majority of the WC teams would have trouble against an on-form Argentina. Plus, you guys still have a good chance to advance out of the group.

I really like Ki Sung-Yeung, kid looks like he has a lot of potential. I was disappointing we only got 45 minutes of PT

Yep, if Messi plays like that (and Tevez as well actually), that team is going deep. Maradona was questioned a lot, but he's made good decisions so far and could be the calming presence Messi needed to step up on this stage.

yeah we have a shot at advancing.. Park Chu Young was supposed to be our emerging star this WC, so far nothing

It took a man being sent off for Nigeria to make this a game. Greece with the lead so far, pretty good game though.

South Korea letting me down. Looking for a US victory tomorrow and Germany to dominate as well.

Meh, Diego's insistence on playing Veron instead of a more creative player like Pastore means that the Argentinians are way too dependent on Messi, plus Higuain has been pretty bad so far and why he plays over Milito is far more baffling than Maradona not bringing Cambiasso or Zanetti along. That first game against nigeria was ugly and while things looked better against South Korea, the koreans also have a **** defense. If Argentina are to beat the top teams with their current lineup they'll need Messi to do it single-handedly which is why I don't like their set up. Have Pastore play next to Mascherano in a more advanced position and stick Milito up top in Higuain's spot while getting rid of Heinze and that team is suddenly very scary and on par with Brazil and Germany.

Mikel's injury really cost them. He was by far their most creative player and the guy who'd need to organize and create the offense and without him they just seem kinda lost and idea-less.
