e4Nf6 wrote:Has anybody seen the "average position" feature on soccernet's gamecast? It's pretty neat. You can see how teams play tactically and how far up the field everybody played. In the Brazil-NK game for example, the two center-backs were the only Brazilian players whose average position was in their own half:

pretty cool feature

stunning upset. spain 0 - swiss 1 ha ha. suck it spain. spain's last 2 games in world tournaments, loss to USA; loss to switzerland. yikes.

i am officially getting annoyed with the lack of offense in the tournament so far. i really hope the scoring picks up next round as teams get more desperate and as chemistry builds.

Things will open up now that some squads know what they're up against. Spain, for instance, will presumably be in kill mode from the jump from here on.

Um yeah.....but at least i get to see all those great/hyped up college or overseas players during their first couple of years, thanks to the Clippers being in the lottery pretty much every year...

oh well, you're always welcome to come post here and if you change your mind there plenty of room on the bobcats bandwagon.

Yup, i started to follow them because of Detlef Schrempf.

It started with the Dream Team in Barcelona 92 that i followed hoops more.
Then i realized that there was an american league and a German guy playing pretty well there and that's when i started following the NBA, the Sonics and Schrempf.

Hmm....i can't, under any circumstances root for that Oklahoma team, given what happened to Seattle, how they got there and who owns them.
So we gotta talk about some of your faves, cause first off Chelsea and Bayern and now even OKC. There's something wrong man... :P

Regarding that Bobcats bandwagon.
Um....not really, but you guys are alright. ;)

Fred Williamson wrote:hey Det, I'm also german, even though I currently reside in the Netherlands. Do I probably know you from any german NBA message boards? :D

Yes, but i don't post all that frequently anymore and mostly talk about hoops on realgm.
Though, i do post on sportforen(but with a different name: supafly03) and i had been really dedicated to basketball-blogs, while also writing a german Sonics Blog(SupersonicBoom) on that site for a couple years, till this forum/blog network was shot down because it didn't work out anymore.

BTW: Switzerland beating Spain was the first real surprise of this tournament and even though the spaniards had posession of the ball most of the time, they just didn't knew what to do with it.
Oh and of course i can't get any of my defenders to have a clean sheet.

Spain getting beat by Switzerland was great, but so undeserved
They completely outplayed Switzerland but hey, that's what makes soccer interesting, the best team doesn't always come out on top.

It wasn't all that undeserving.

Yes Spain most of the time had the ball, but having more posession then your opponent doesn't mean all that much if you can't do anything with it.
And that's what happened to them, cause they didn't create a lot of chances and the most dangerous thing was a shot by Xabi Alonso from outside the box.

BTW: Uruguay just beat South Africa 3-0 and Diego Forlan scored twice. Guess whom i subbed in for van Persie?
That's right, i did play Forlan for that 2nd phase and even thought about making him my captain, which would've been a good decision, given that he scored me 13 points.

A good one, lol. But Blake Griffin says hello!

Oh and you would have better chance to see Korolev in Charlotte than wioth Clippers, lol. Good luck anyway you were good trading partners so far.)

Hint: there is no need not to have one captain per day till you are satisfied with the outcome or till the round ends

BTW final lineups of the first round are now visible to all, so you can check what others did. I admit I was pleasantly surprised how many of us ended up with Buffon scoring whooping 2 points

i didnt make any changes to my roster between round 1 and 2. i figured i would give them all one more shot before pulling the plug on some of them.

i like the gambling element to this fantasy league, deciding whether or not to hold your points or dump them for the unknown.

You can switch the players around after they've already played? I didn't know that....

if a player in your 11 has played and you feel another player on your bench who hasnt played yet can score more points you can sub out the player who played for the one who hasnt, at which point the subbed player's points will be lost. in the end you still only get points from 11 guys.

you cant sub a player who received a red card though, damn you tim cahill.

you can also move your captain choice to a player who has not yet played in your starting lineup.

I got rid of Buffon and took Germany's goal instead (too lazy to see how he's named)

Llores is supposed to be in goal for me, but he isn't. I KNOW I hit confirm change last night, because I had set it up the day before and was confused when Howard was still my goalie when I checked last night. Hopefully this is a case of divine intervention.
