Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
This thread is a public record of your official position on your top players for the 2010 Draft. Briefly state one or two players you hope the Bucks target (and why). Briefly state one or two players you hope the Bucks stay away from, and why.
The purpose of moving this from the draft thread, is that any one of us could sift through the dozens of posts regarding these prospects we have made of late and shape quotes to make it look like we were for (or against) any of the prospects. Of course otheres could do that with our quotes as well. This is a handy cheat sheet of sorts for people to go on record with their main, concise thoughts.

Re: Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
Guys I want in order:
1. George - Great athlete. Adds something to the team we do not have.
2. Babbitt - I think he could be Paul Pierce part 2. Great skills with the ball, excellent step back jumper.
3. Patterson - Could potentially be the efficient scorer we don't have at the PF. Good pick n' pop/roll partner with Jennings. Could develop a solid 15-18 footer to stretch the floor for Bogut.
Guys I want nothing to do with:
1. Hayward - Not a good enough athlete or skilled enough to be successful in the NBA.
2. Whiteside - Has very few basketball skills. Puts up rebounding numbers only because of the awful competition he played against, doesn't know how to box out. Will be interested to see if he can block shots against better competition.

Re: Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
The two guys I want the Bucks to target in the first round are Patterson and Babbitt. I think we could be sure to get one or the other by swapping picks with Memphis. They have been getting burned by prospects blowing off workouts there. I would think that Delfino and/or the #37 would be enough to get them to flip first with us. They are also the kind of organization that might move down (if there was a guy they lied at 15) just to save money. We already have great team defense, and are desperate for some scoring pop. Patterson would bring us that from the inside, Babbitt would be a great addition to our perimiter attack, and his midrange game is top notch.
Two guys I am not interested in are Whiteside and James Anderson. I think that in time Whiteside could be a fine pro, but doesn't fit the prototype for a Skiles player. I also feel that Anderson is on the Charles Obannon and Marcus Fizer All Star Team (of guys that are very good college players that just don't translate to the pros).

Re: Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
My targets for the Bucks in order are:
1. George: I think he has the highest upside of any of the wings in this draft. He has length, athleticism, he can shoot the 3, he can rebound, and he can dish it pretty well. He just has to refine all of those areas to really bring them out. I think the pro game fits his style better than college.
2. Babbitt: I think he could very well end up the top career scorer in this draft if he gets in the right situation. Versatile offensively, with deep range, nice jab step moves, and the ability to shoot with his body contorted at many angles. Uber efficient. Strong rebounder. I think could struggle defensively but would be a great fit with Moute here.
3. Davis: another "potential" pick. College rebounding and shot blocking production EXTREMELY high, so that bodes well moving to the pros. Think he'd make a dynamic defensive duo with Bogut, and still has the time to develop his offensive game.
4. Patterson: efficiency and offensive versatility are the things to like here. With the 15-18 foot jumper added to his arsenal and the ability to score efficiently inside, Patterson gives exactly what the Bucks need offensively at the position, and he fits into this team personality-wise seamlessly. Skiles would love him.
5. Udoh: well below the top four, but think he would have a role with the Bucks. Smart and savvy player, odd skillset on offense with the ability to face up, dribble, and pass, but not much in terms of back to the basket offense. Kind of an AK hybrid type player. I think at minimum he'd give us great D along side Bogut (probably a 4 bpg, 20 rpg frontcourt), and you just pray he develops some offense.
6. Henry: also well below the other four on my list, I do think Henry will do two things well: shoot the 3 (with great range) and defend at a high level. I'd prefer more of a ceiling at pick #15, but wouldn't complain if this is who we end up with. I don't think he'll ever be a great shot creator due to lack of foot speed and explosion, but if we could find another dynamic wing, would be a solid fit.
Really do not want:
1. Hayward: lots of people like this guy and lots of people really don't. My concerns: alligator arms, extremely slow feet laterally, and questions on college production (sub 30% three a a sophomore). Don't think he has a position to defend in the NBA and if his shot does develop, I think that is his only role on offense.
2. Whiteside. Would take over Hayward but that is about it. Red flags all over this guy. Ridiculous length but very unpolished offensively and major motivational questions. Predicting bust.
3. Orton: have major problems drafting anyone that has shown zero college/Euro production, just because said prospect has very good size. I have no idea how Orton will actually turn out, I just know that I don't like him enough to take him top 15 in this draft.

Re: Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
Guys I like if we stay at 15.
1. Gordon Hayward - He has been a winner at every level, and is a 6-8 great shooter who is not as bad athetically as the draft process has tried to make him out to be. IMO because of his basketball IQ, shooting ability and fearlessness, he will be a top 5-10 player in this deep draft. He would be my favorite pick.
2. Patrick Patterson - I love his hard working mentality, and the fact that he seems ready to contribute right away. I think he will have a nice NBA career and is one of the safest picks in the draft.
3. Luke Babbitt - I haven't seen much of him, but I really like what I've heard about him from various scouting reports. I like his length, shooting ability and he seems to have a great attitude.
4. Paul George - I like the fact that he is very confident in his ability, has great length, can shoot the ball and has some big upside. I also think that he has the biggest chance out of these 4 to be a bust.
Guys I like if we trade up.
1. DeMarcus Cousins- If the Bucks feel he can match w/ Bogut, and stay focused on becoming a good NBA player he is the guy I would trade down for. He has a chance to be a very special player, and make a huge impact in the NBA.
Guys I like if we trade down.
1. Damion Jones - He would perfectly fit the Bucks culture, seems to be a great team player that will do whatever it takes to get the job done.
2. Quincy Pondexter

Re: Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
Guys I really want.
1. Paul George - give me this highlight reel 24/7
2. Ed Davis - Sean May comes to mind like all UNC pf's that failed but Ed Davis seems to be more special
3. Hassan Whiteside - Bucks need more than anything length and defense, no one can provide that better than Whiteside.
4. Patrick Patterson - Very intriguing guy that can play inside and out, even Skiles knows we need someone like that.
5. Xavier Henry - offensive sniper that could thrive in a offensive where BJ can penetrate and kick out.
Guys I really do not want.
1. Kevin Seraphin - yahoo mock had us takin him at 15, terrible idea... he has a bum knee and cant even play in the summer league.. way to much time before we see anything substantial.
2. Daniel Orton - Big stiff who screams bust.. raw talent sure, but showed absolutely nothing of substance at a big time university. even Bledsoe showed signs behind Wall so the "Cousins stole all the spotlight" is garbage to me.
3. Gordon Hayward - Truthfully, i wouldnt be irrate at this pick.. starting to warm up to him alittle more but still think we could do better than him as i think his best ceiling is being "mediocre"

Re: Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
At 15:
1) Paul George - immediate upgrade at both sg/sf and boosts athleticism and shooting for the team
2) Patrick Patterson - forms a nice, complementary pf rotation with Ersan, pushes LRMAM to 2/3 wing defender and big enough to spell Bogut at 5
3) Avery Bradley - skilled enough to run the 1, big enough for the 2 with his wingspan, good backcourt defender
4) Luke Babbitt - pure scorer; kind of reminds me of James Harden - better athleticism revealed at combine than previously believed and can either spot or slash
5) Xavier Henry - big enough to play the 3 for stretches and at the least should be a knockdown shooter. Young enough that he might have more upside then perceived.
If none of the 5 or Hayward are available at 15, I predict we trade the pick.
I predict if Cousins falls past 5, someone will trade up to take him.

Yes - I will be happy with any of these guys
1. Paul George
2. Patrick Patterson
3. Luke Babbit
4. Ekpe Udoh
No - too many question marks for comfort
1. Hassan Whiteside
2. Daniel Orton
I would like for the Buck's to acquire an additional 1st round pick 17-24 range:
1. Larry Sanders
I don't know what to think about Gordon Hayward, Xavier Henry, Cole Aldrich

1. Whiteside
2. Udoh
3. Babbit
4. Sanders (with a traded down pick)
After that... anyone but Patterson, not that I think he'll be a terrible player but the Bucks already have enough 2nd string PFs.

Re: Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
Like:
1.) Paul George-nice shooting stroke, athletic, could be a great 3rd or even 2nd star if he reaches potential. Would also add height to backcourt that is needed to offset Jennings size.
2.) Xavier Henry-very polished for a 19 year old, has a very good maturity to his game. Reminds me a bit of Brandon Roy in this way, may not be the same star he is though. Good shooter.
3.) Luke Babbitt-surprisingly athletic, can shoot the ball efficiently and makes a good tandem at the 3 with LRMAM. Has potential to become a better defender.
4.) Avery Bradley-Can shoot the lights out and has a good "instant scorer" type of vibe. I think would be a great Ben Gordon clone. If he is drafted as a starter rather than 6th man, this could change into a dislike though.
5.) Ed Davis-raw offensive game, but a great defensive game that should translate well. Youth and potential puts him over Udoh
6.) Ekpe Udoh-Unorthodox offensive variety for his position makes him unique and solid shot blocking make him a great fit next to Bogut. Age and knee concerns put him lower on my list though.
Dislike:
1.) Hassan Whiteside-Don't think he has maturity to play under Skiles, which could lead to a quick exit ala JA. His level of competition also scares me (Marshall) and that he will be 21 and have only played one year of college ball at a low level. He does have potential, I just do not see it being tapped on this bucks team.
2.) Gordon Hayward-He has hustle, but I'm not sold on him as a shooter. He doesnt seem to have a high ceiling and is riding the wave of getting Butler into the final. Would he be considered this high if Butler exited in round 2?
3.) Daniel Orton-lack of production at college level brings question marks up. He may succeed, but I think he should've stayed at college to show more first. Is riding the waves of his other great Kentucky team mates and drafting a backup at 15 doesn't sound appealing.
Like them if we had a slightly lower pick/traded down:
1.) Kevin Seraphin-athletic, could develop into a starting 4, may be a very good rotation big. Still a bit too raw on his entire game to take at 15 imo.
2.) Larry Sanders-amazing length, could become a defensive juggernaut, still very raw though for pick 15.

Re: Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
I want George, Patterson, or Henry. I am not sold on Babbitt, Davis, or Udoh. I would probably gamble on Whiteside over any of those guys. Udoh is too old to me. I will never trust a 23 yr old to do much. Babbitt and Armon both got their numbers at Nevada but the team sucked. How is that possible? Reminds me too much of Redd who put up numbers but didn't actually seem to help the team win too much. It doesn't sound like Babbitt was able to take it to Hayward either and I think Hayward should be in the 20-30 range as a prospect. Davis has no midrange game and is a pf. Hello, you need a midrange game at that position. I also don't trust UNC PF's much. Is it just me or do they usually suck at the next level?
As a side note: I have been checking into Cousins a lot lately btw and that guy is going to be a beast. I think his attitude thing is overstated and he just has not developed a good fun loving personality yet. His personality is to take criticism harshly and prove everyone wrong in a major way. Dude is very young, built like a tank, can dribble better than half the sf prospects in this draft class, has a smooth and quick jumper with range, has a post up game and isn't afraid of contact, rebounds like a monster, great hands, great passer, won at every level, good hops for his size, etc. While Wall and Turner will be very good, Cousins will be equally amazing.
Aldrich I think is the most overrated prospect. Jumper is ugly as hell and will get blocked from behind all the time by guards helping, plays very slow and methodical, not intimidating at all when I watch him, didn't seem to ever be that dominant when I watched him. Looked like the average Wisconsin big man to me who gets an extra block or two a game basically.

Re: Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
Ideally, I'd like to see Hammond trade the pick for a proven starter at PF or SF. Assuming the Bucks keep the pick, here are the guys I'm most interested in:
1. Davis
2. Patterson
3a. Henry
3b. George
5. Bradley
If Hammond trades back and gets two firsts, here are the players I'd like to see him consider:
1. George (if still available)
2. Sanders
3. Anderson
4. Alabi
5. Whiteside (worth a gamble with a second first)
6. Stephenson
7. Brackins
8. Pondexter
9. Crawford
10. Lawal
1. Davis
2. Patterson
3a. Henry
3b. George
5. Bradley

Re: Official Draft "For the Record" 2010 Draft Thread
guys i like who could be there when we pick (no order)
paul george-could be an ariza-esque player eventually. definately not a 2 like he thinks he is, but he is young, athletic and can shoot.
gordon hayward-i see him as a great 4th starter. think Mike Dunleavy Jr except that he can be effective offensively without the ball in his hands. athleticism concerns are overblown, as is his 3pt% dip...people forget that inside the arc he was the most efficient scorer in the country among non big men and dude is a flat out gamer
xavier henry-is gonna be similar to a prime anthony parker IMO, that kind of player is a very nice pick up at 15
ed davis-probably wouldn't be there, but has real nice potential that i couldnt pass on him if he was there.
guys i dislike
avery bradley-no point guard skills whatsoever, too small to guard 2 guards effectively so he is really limited in how he can be used/played. needs a ball dominant SG/big point guard who can check 2s next to him to even get on the floor. awful finisher despite nice athleticism. also, he doesn't draw fouls or get to the line whatsoever. yuck.
Patrick Patterson-he plays small, mediocre rebounder, not good defender, and he disappears down the stretch of games. he also couldn't win anything, not even make the tournament, until cousins and wall took over. mainly, i just dont think he'll be able to score in the pros. i know thats his supposed strength, but after watching him for the last 3 years I just don't see it. he gets blocked by the bottom of the rim on putbacks and misses bunnies. he's one of those guys you look at on paper and think, wow this guys got all the tools, but then you watch him play and you're like this is it? He's never impressive, just there. honestly, i just dont think he's a winning player.
everyone else gets a meh, whatever from me.
