D. Cousins will be our Pick

Post#1 » by ICMTM » Thu Jun 17, 2010 7:12 pm

So I'm thinking that Petrie is going to take Cousins and here's why:

1. He's the BPA @ 5 (projected)
2. We've taken on problem children before (Artest, Webber, etc) so I don't think he's scared about taking on that kind of a player. Westphal will make him sit and it looks like it's Westphal's team so he's going to be forced to grow up.
3. Greg Monroe looks like he will be Vlade Solid at best. Actually I think that's his ceiling. Cousins can be the best player in this draft
4. Our owners TAKE RISKS. High risk, high reward. That is Cousins.
5. Like Cousins is coming in for another workout! I wouldn't read too much into Whiteside/Monroe coming in for the 5th pick. If we're still picking at 5 the player will be Cousins.
6. We don't run the Princeton. We just traded Hawes and Dalembert just doesn't appear to be a long term guy. Does Monroe fit into what we're doing?

With Favors gone I'm officially on the pick Cousins bandwagon.

You mean you'll be making two right? :D

And from what I heard as I posted in the pre draft thread, we're finding a way to get both Cousins (if he's there) and Monroe

Yup. That's the big question.

Although I also think we're not a lock to take him even if he is there. But I sure hope we do.

If he's available is implied!

The thing is Mitch this franchise can't miss on a draft pick. If we miss because a guy isn't talented enough it will sting far worse than having a knucklehead. Someone will take a chance on him later. You can't move a guy with little talent and get more talent back in return.

Hey,

I sure hope you're right, I am not sold on monroe/whiteside. I was not very impressed with their pre-draft interview after their work out. Not that they interview is the way they'll play - but whiteside for sure seems very soft and unsure of himself. He kept saying "ommm" every 2 seconds, and when asked how long it would take him to make an impact, he said " in about a year" - Maybe hes just being realistic about it but I want a winners mentality someone who says "the first day i step on the court" ... but anyways - I know GP and our management will take us in the right direction so I am not to worried about who we pick.

If Cousins isn't there at 5 you take Favors which is also great, currently Favors is 3rd, and Minny has made it clear they want Johnson, they can't trade down because the Kings will take Johnson and simply forece Minny to trade with them (like Prtland did in 2006).

As I posted in the other thread, cousins fits our new team philosophy and Monroe doesn't if cousins is there we will take him.

It's a new day in sactown
dalembert
landry
brockman
casspi
tyreke

tough and physical

Martin
miller
bibby
hawes
skilled and soft

I think our new team is going to be pretty awesome.

I really hope he is. I really. REALLY. Hope he is.

If we take him and trade down (although I'm still confused as to HOW that would go at this point...), I will not be upset with Whiteside. But Cousins is my favorite, period.

Terrico White, Armon Johnson, Willie Warren, Mikhail Torrance, and Sherron Collins.

Seems like the roster could be very balanced by the end of the draft.

How big were the two teams best big men last night? Gasol and Garnett both skinny big men. Without Gasol Kobe would have went home a loser a again and absolutely dominated Garnett and Carlos Boozer. They look more like Hawes and Thompson than Cousins. Cousins ain't Shaq who is the only big-big guy to ever to win a ring as a #1 big. Cousins will score a lot of points on some loser teams like Al Jefferson.

This team has already a pretty Lakers sized team already. The only thing they are lacking is a scorer to play with Tyreke at the 1.

Chad Ford also reported that the Sixers trading Dalembert will mean they will go for Favors at #2.
